1. The St. Lawrence Fortress, also known as Fort Lovrijenac, is a fortification located outside the walls of Dubrovnik, Croatia. It was built in the 11th century to protect the city from its enemies from both land and sea. The fortress has never been breached in battle, and is sometimes called the \"Gibraltar of Dubrovnik.\"

Today, the fortress is popular among visitors for its stunning views of the city and the Adriatic Sea. During the summer months, the fortress hosts theatrical performances and concerts, most notably as a part of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

Visitors can access the fortress by walking along the Dubrovnik City Walls, a scenic route that takes about 10 minutes. Alternatively, a shuttle bus can drop visitors off directly at the fortress.
