It was originally designed in the early 19th century as a part of the urban plan of architect Jože Plečnik, who transformed the city’s appearance and created many of its most notable buildings. The square is dominated by the neoclassical Ursuline Church of the Holy Trinity, which was designed by Plečnik and completed in 1905. There are also several other notable buildings on the square, including the Philharmonic Hall, the University of Ljubljana, and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

2. Congress Square is open to the public year-round, 24 hours a day. There is no admission fee to visit the square. For more information, you can contact the Ljubljana Tourist Information Centre at +386 1 306 1215.
