1. Tiananmen, also known as Gate of Heavenly Peace, is a large gate situated in the heart of Beijing, China. The gate is a symbol of China and witnessed some of the most significant political events in the country’s history. It was first built during the Ming dynasty in the early 1400s and has undergone several renovations since then. The gate is made of white stone and stands 66 feet tall. Taxis and bike rentals are also available, but the gate is within easy walking distance of several other major landmarks, such as the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven.
