1. The Waitakere Ranges is a coastal rainforest area located in Auckland, New Zealand. It covers 28,500 hectares and is home to a variety of native flora and fauna, including the endangered New Zealand kauri tree and the North Island kokako bird. The area also features many hiking trails, including the famous Hillary Trail which runs 77 kilometers through the ranges. Visitors can also enjoy waterfalls, beaches, and stunning views of the Tasman Sea.

3. The Waitakere Ranges can be easily accessed by car or public transportation. Visitors can take the train from downtown Auckland to the Swanson Station, which is located near the park entrance. Alternatively, there are several bus routes that run through the area, including the 186 bus which travels from downtown Auckland to the Piha Beach area. Parking is available at many of the trailheads and beaches throughout the park.
