Unforgettable Mahabalipuram Private Tour from Chennai

My trip to Mahabalipuram was simply unforgettable. The ancient temples and rock carvings were breathtaking, but what truly made the experience special was our friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. He shared fascinating stories about each monument, from the Shore Temple to Arjuna’s Penance, bringing history to life in a fun, easy way. Everything was perfectly organized—smooth transport, great photo spots, and even a tasty local lunch. The guide’s warmth and passion made the tour feel personal and relaxed

Overall, a great experience. Ganesh, the tour guide, was right on time to start of the day and was a great source of information through the day. I also appreciated that they hired local guides at Mahabalipuram and do much to ensure that money spent there stays there. Highly recommend. Would not hesitate to do another with them again.

Ganesh was an excellent tour guide. From pick up he was friendly and enthusiastic. The car was nice, clean and had good AC, and provided water. We got lunch at a great dosa restaurant that he knew (included in the tour price). We tried the sambar from Chennai and Kerala which was fun. In Mahabalipuram, we met a local tour guide who could explain all the stone monuments and temples and was able to answer all my questions. At the end, I was taken to see current stone carver where I could buy hand-made souvenirs. Ganesh even helped me to draw cash separately as my card wasn’t working in the ATM. Ganesh also took photos for me. Overall a fantastic day trip.

Our day was excellent, from start to finish. Ann and I booked this tour as we were not able to locate a small numbered group tour which initially, would have been our preferred option. However from pick up to drop off, the tour leader Kannan excelled, delivering high quality personal attention to questions and provided valuable information on the numerous sites we visited on the day but also broader issues relating to Tamil Nadu and India. This is our 6th visit to India as tourists and we made a great decision booking this tour as if we had not, we would have travelled independently and simply looked at the various sites in Mahabalipuram oblivious to architectural, religious and social context of the World Heritage sites we visited on the day. Kannan was not alone in contributing to our day, the driver Santi and the extremely knowledgeable additional local tour guide Ramesh all made for a great day. Thank you Kannan, travel safe good man.

We had a great time! The guide was excellent at providing a preview of the touring during the car ride, which made the long trip a lot easier. He was very accommodating and helpful, we very much appreciate the tour and will recommend to our friends in the future.
