Unforgettable Guatape: Peñol Peak, Lake Cruise & Colombian Feast

Ginna our tour guide was phenomenal during the door. She covered all the areas we stopped during the door with great history. She had a large group and was able to answer all the questions her travellers had.She is really friendly. This tour is the best! The food, the different stops are truly great! You can do this as a single traveller and feel welcomed aswell! The bus driver was really friendly even though he didn’t speak any english. Bring pesos with you to pay for the rock if you plan on climbing. Plan for a full day as we were off around 7am and got back to El Poblado around 5pm which was pretty good. All in all amazing!

Absolutely amazing! Everything was very well organized, the individual parts were all great and eating together created a good group atmosphere.

Awesome excursion. Mateo, the guide was great. Lot of frequent stops, enough time at each stop. Best value I have seen. First stop is breakfast, then rock climbing, then Guatape town, then lunch, then boating, and lastly a stop at a road-side restaurant with llamas. They are cute, and big! Boating is included. You pay for rock climbing.

Great experience. 100% would recommend for anyone that is going to columbia. Be in shape for climbing the rock, its 800 steep steps. I would also recommend giving the jetskis a try while here. It was one of my favorite tours, ever.

Our day trip to Guatapé was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Everything was so well organized and inclusive — we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The bus was clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned, and the drive itself was beautiful with incredible views the whole way. Our guide Mateo was fantastic. We were served two delicious meals during the day, and honestly, they were some of the best meals I’ve ever had on a tour — flavorful, fresh, and more than enough food. One of the highlights was visiting the llama farm — hands down, the best llamas anyone has ever seen! They were friendly, well cared for, and made for some great photos. We also went on a boat tour and got to see Pablo Escobar’s mansion, which was fascinating and full of history. And of course, climbing El Peñón de Guatapé (the big rock) was the perfect way to get our steps in. The view from the top is unbelievable — totally worth every step! Overall, this was one of the best tours I’ve ever done. Everything was smooth, fun, and full of great memories. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Medellín!

This was a full-day tour and honestly worth every cent. Our guide, Mateo, was awesome! Super friendly, engaging, and kept the energy up throughout the long drive with fun facts and stories that made the time fly. The highlight for me was climbing the Guatapé rock. As someone who’s scared of heights, I had to push myself to make it to the top but I’m so glad I did. The view was absolutely immaculate! It took me about 12–15 minutes with a few stops to calm my nerves (I’m pretty active, so if you’re not used to stairs, it might take a bit longer but it’s totally doable and 100% worth it). The colorful town was beautiful and lively, and riding through it in a Chiva bus was such a fun touch. The chiva driver alao gave us a mini tour for a small extra! The boat ride across the lake was peaceful, and we even got to see one of Pablo Escobar’s former homes from the water. Breakfast was tasty, and lunch was good too, though I do wish we had a little more time to sit and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed to move on. The only part I didn’t love was the llama farm. It was a bit out of my comfort zone. One llama spit on a lady in our group, and another sneezed on someone else. I ended up waiting on the bus for that part 😅. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The drive is long, but Mateo did a great job keeping us engaged so it never felt overwhelming. If you're visiting Medellín, this tour is a must!
