Despite the rain, Matt provided an informed and reflective hike. There are a few steep climbs up stairs but his insights about the various shrines along the way made it worthwhile.

After coming from the backside/top of Fushimi and working our way down, then seeing the crowds at the bottom, I was so glad we took this tour. The hike through a quaint residential area, then a beautiful forest was beautiful. The hike isn't hard, but it is strenuous in places, and there was some slippery rocky areas but they were minimal. Overall a doable hike for anyone in moderate shape or better. Out of all the tours we did in Japan, this was our favorite.

I originally booked this through Airbnb. While Airbnb’s directions almost made us miss the experience.. I must say that our tour guide Josh’s attitude and expertise more than made up for Airbnb’s shortcomings. Beautiful settings and private views that can only be achieved by someone who is from the area (and who also respects it). I would definitely recommend this activity and if you can, ask for Josh as your tour guide :)

Great guide, view and experience. I learned a lot about Japanese culture and religion, especially Shinto faith and how important rice and the sun is for the people.

Truly Special and a great way to bet the crowds. Make sure to wear good shoes and enjoy the nature around you. Our guide was super helpful and I would highly recommend it to everyone visiting Kyoto.

Nice Tour avoiding the large crowds in the area! Bambooforest included :) You should know that it's quite a hike. Would recommend to others.

It was fantastic to approach Fushimi inari in a different way. I learned so much about Shintoism and Japanese culture. Noriko was lovely

We went on this hike during a Monday afternoon slot and it ended up being a private tour for our group of two. Shun was an attentive and engaging guide during our hike through the Fushimi Inari shrine. Would recommend this for anyone that wants to spend some more time exploring this shrine and surrounding area.

This was a great experience. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the hike and at no time felt it was too difficult. Our guide was very friendly and easy to talk to. He gave us great insight into the shrine and various facts along the route. Well worth it

Wonderful hike on tacks mostly in the forest with much less people. Ken had good explanations and always was welcoming questions. I would do it again !
- Public transportation options are available nearby
- Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- This hike is not super difficult, approximately 7km in total. But it is not a simple walk and does take some effort. We would not recommend it for people who have trouble walking or are not in a regular condition. We take regular stops and can do extra stops if needed.
- As the ground can be slippery, you need to come wearing shoes with good grip.
- There may be mosquitoes and bugs as the group will hike in the mountain, so we strongly recommend to wear long sleeve shirt and long pants.
- The itinerary for this tour includes some locations that are not accessible by a wheelchair or stroller.
- Summer in Japan is very hot and humid, so we recommend that you bring water and wear a hat to prevent heat stroke.
