Perfect time allotted to visit Zenkoji Temple. Guide Dylan's summaries were concise and informative. A brief walk to sake tasting; Dylan's explanation of how sake was made and their various tastes added depth to the visit. A 50-minute minibus ride to a delicious lunch (hot pot, tempura, sushi, miso) was followed by the 30-minute walk (~1.3km) up a well-prepared trail to the Snow Monkey Onsen. During our visit there were dozens of monkeys (but no snow). A quiet bus ride returned us to the meeting point in Nagano Station. Dylan was an outstanding guide. 10/10 experience.

This tour exceeded all my expectations! First of all, there were so, so many monkeys. Our tour guide, Dylan, was extremely knowledgeable and made our entire tour a fantastic experience from start to finish.

Amazing tour, the best we have done in Japan. The tour guides knowledge of that area was a stand out. The guide was relatable and engaging. The lunch was great, a lovely selection of Japanese dishes. Presented beautifully. The tour was the perfect length to fit everything in. The only part of the tour that could be improved was the size of the bus. It was somewhat cramped for space

Glad that I took this day trip. 2 big highlights for me - the delicious japanese lunch at the beautiful Hatarutei restaurant and of course the snow monkey park. Lucky to see many monkeys at their onsen and around the park. Kevin, the tour guide was great too.

This trip was fantastic. Even though we had rain it didn’t detract from the whole day. The lunch was delicious and above what I expected. The snow monkeys are a joy to watch and entertained us so that we don’t even realise that we were so wet.

A walk in the woods. A unique wildlife experience. A delicious hot meal in a carefully restored hostel. A glimpse into the arrival of Buddhism in Japan 1,400 years ago at an ornate and awe inspiring temple. A visit to a Nihon-shi brewery and tasting delicious sake. I couldn’t have spent a more pleasant day, this was easily one of the highlights of my trip. Kevin was our guide, he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm for his adopted country’s history easily and with great sensitivity and respect. Highly recommend this tour, it had a little of everything in perfect balance.
