Praia do Forte is a Brazilian beach located in the homonymous district, in the Bahian municipality of Mata de São João, about 50 km from Salvador. Lots of natural beauty mixed history make Praia do Forte one of the most sought after destinations on the northern coast of Bahia. There are more than 12 km of beaches, with several natural pools formed by reefs along the coast. The coconut trees, the predominant vegetation in this region, make the look even better. Enjoying the beaches and the beautiful scenery invite you to relax. One of the main attractions of the place is to visit the headquarters of Projeto Tamar, an organization dedicated to the preservation and study of sea turtles.

Ariel was excellent! He gave us all the info we needed. TAMAR lived up to expectations. I thought after reading some reviews we'd find the conditions sad, on the contrary, everything is clean, well managed and gets you close.to these amazing creatures we must protect. The day was well planned and despite the windy, cloudy day we enjoyed hugely!

Ariel was a great guide and we really enjoyed our time both at Praia do Forte and Guarajuba beach. The only downside is that it takes long time to pick everyone up - too many inconsiderate people who aren't ready in time

The trip itself was good, and Rodriguez is an energetic guide, who clearly enjoys his job. Thank you... The organization of the trip, could be improved. The pick up time, at my hotel was identified as 07:00. Since I always endeavour to be on time, I was out front at 06:55. As I waited outside and saw 2 tour vans go by, I thought this is the one...no such luck, then 2 school buses go by. At 07:25 I text to ask what the delay is and I was informed that I needed to walk down to the main street and along to a bus stop, as the road I am on is too small. Clearly it is not given the traffic I saw go by. This 10 minute walk, wasn't such a big deal because I am fit - were I not it could have been an issue - I also didn't argue as my street is a one way and it would have added time to the route. I was finally picked up at 07:45 and we then we spent the next 45 ish minutes driving to the other hotels to collect the other participants. Forte Beach was timed well for me as I only wanted to do the Tamar Project and not the snorkeling or dune buggy and so I shopped. Lunch at Guarajuba Beach was excellent and the beach beautiful with plenty of time to enjoy both! The return trip also took a long time because of the additional time driving to everyone's hotels to drop them off. This added an hour, since I was 2nd last. Further, the same excuse about the road being to narrow was given and I was dropped off at the corner and had to walk up and since I spent most of the day sitting I didn't argue...Please do not tell me to be ready at 07:00 and make me wait. ~Addendum a huge dump truck went by this morning and actually backed into a construction site with no issues.

First (unfortunately), the logistics. We were supposed to be picked up at the hotel at 8 a.m, but a minibus only arrived at 8:45 - after the hotel reception made inquiries on our behalf. We joined the main tour bus about 20 minutes later at a random point on the main highway north. I assume they forgot to pick us up... The tour duration is listed as 8 hours, so we expected to be back at the hotel by about 4 p.m - but were dropped off at about 6:30 p.m. Luckily, we had no specific plans for the evening. TAMAR project is wonderful, the project visitor center is similar to a small marine zoo. OK, but not a must-see. The village resort is quite beautiful, but expect many tourist shops. The public beach at the resort is small and not really inviting. None of our group bathed there. Guarajuba beach, where we spent over 2 hours, is beautiful, but don't expect pristine white sand and clear water. The sand is a typical 'sand' color (i.e. light brown), and the water somewhat silty. For those interested in swimming, there was a strong rip current. Our tour guide was very friendly, and although we were the only English speakers on the bus (others spoke Portuguese, mostly, or Spanish) devoted sufficient time to us. Overall, though, it appears that the tour is seen primarily as a day at the beach with a little souvenir hunting, not a didactic trip.

Guide Tiago very attentive, very nice tour but in the afternoon I found a lost time, they took us to a beach and to eat at a bar, it looked like a permuta. The tour would be more profitable if we left on the beach of the Forte and enjoying more of Project Tamar.

Fantastic experience, really good guide who could tell in Portuguese, Spanish and English. The beaches we visited were incredibly beautiful and the water was perfect for swimming. The turtle project was really exciting, and you got close to the turtles! This trip can be highly recommended!

Excellent opportunity to meet different beaches of the coast of our Bahia. Hot waters, historic places. Guia Thiago sensacional.

Foi fantástico, o guia Tiago foi super atento e simpático com todos, gerando a percepção de cuidado e atenção. O projeto Tamar, a praia do forte l; mergulho com os peixes é algo surreal. Vale a pena!
