It was an amazing experience the views were breath taking. I would highly recommend this helicopter trip.

The staff member we dealt with went out of her way to get us on a flight, which was greatly appreciated as it is unlikely we will return to the area in future. The pilot was good - very informative. The weather was brilliant on the day which made our experience all the more enjoyable.

Booked in error, so emailed the operator directly explaining the situation and requesting a refund. The operator cancelled the booking and the payment. ***HOWEVER: I am finding it difficult to get through to Tripadvisor to release the funds. Can someone help?

This was our second helicopter tour with The Helicopter Line, the first one being from Queenstown. Queenstown experience was great. Glentanner, not so much. First the positive. The views from this flight were nothing short of spectacular. The negatives. Our group was two couples and we were literally crammed into the back row of the helo. We all had to turn our shoulders and lean right for the door to be latched. A single person, not part of our group, got the front seat. We asked about rotating seats after the glacier landing and were told no. The microphones on our headsets were disabled so there was no way to converse with the pilot or each other. The worst part, however, was listening to the radio conversation between the pilot and the ground staff over the pilot’s next flight and their disagreement on his crew duty day…all while we are flying very close to mountains. It wasn’t just a quick radio call. They went back and forth with the ground staff badgering the pilot until he relented. This discussion should have happened on the ground and certainly should have never happened while we were airborne. In comparison. Queenstown had just our group in an identical model helo. We were allowed to rotate seats after both landings. Our headsets were fully functional and we were able to talk to the pilot and ask questions throughout the flight. Glentanner seemed more concerned with enforcing their “safety” rules but totally missed the mark with the ground staff’s lack of safety awareness that was distracting our pilot from the most important part….passenger safety while airborne.

VIEWS 5 STAR. Destination is incredible. Personnel and customer service is the reason for my 2 star review. Compared to other helicopters tours, this one was disappointing. We were a group of 4 adults, jammed into the back seat of helicopter sharing the flight with another single rider who rode up front. We were given no option to trade seats for front seat view. We also did not fit comfortably, so that the entire ride two of us had to sit with shoulders angled sideways to fit. The pilot had our microphones turned off for the whole flight, so there was no opportunity to ask questions or talk to each other- or for those on the edge to point things out to those in the middle seats on what they were missing. :( There was also some unprofessional banter between the pilot and base regarding his schedule.

The helicopter flight was one of the best things we have done in New Zealand! Nice staff, perfect flight time, good explanations!

We had a wonderful day to do this tour. The pilot was very competent and we felt very safe. It was our first time on a helicopter and it felt like we were peacefully gliding over the amazing scenery.

Amazing, well worth the cost. Well organised, great pilot, mind blowing scenery. Allow at least 2 days or some flexibility in case of cancellations due to weather which can be common

Excellent flight around the mountains and glaciers, would highly recommend. The pilot did a great job of pointing all the natural points of interest. A bucket list item.

Definitely a highlight of our trip to NZ's South Island. It was my partners first trip in a helicopter and he loved it. The event ran smoothly and on time.
