Toledo Unveiled: Imperial City & Cathedral Day Trip from Madrid

Would recommend the tour. Be prepared for a lot of uphill walking since the tour takes in the old city of Toledo. The cathedral is a high point of the tour .

Very good guide and bus driver. Lots of walking but so worth it ! The Cathedral was magnificent!! Highly recommend this company.

I loved Toledo and the transport plus ticket planning was great with this tour, but my guide was clearly apathetic. Was not great at conversation, and I suspect he was asked to come last minute as the company sent me a text the day before seeing if I could reschedule this tour. While I was still able to do the event, I was expecting a bit more given the cost. The experience also felt rushed, and we were dumped for two hours. They called it a full day tour, but we just stuck to ourselves. Wished there was more time to explore the big chapel as well, given the tour was cut short and we had time to ourselves for two hours. However the church requires ticket upon re-entry.

The trip starts very early in the morning. We had to be at the meeting place at 7:30 am. The coach was almost full and we set off for the hour plus journey to our first stop in Toledo. The coach was comfortable and quiet so we could actually catch up on a little sleep. Prior to going into the city we did a circular tour just outside of the city with the coach. The timing was perfect as the sun had just come over the hills and was illuminating the old city. Really beautiful and enabled some really great pictures. The walking tour up to the old city looked challenging however the enlightened local authorities had installed a very discreet escalator that took tourists up to almost the very top. Brilliant idea. The old city was incredibly interesting and our guide JJ was informative and at times very funny. Overall, he was a really excellent guide one of the best that we have had on one of these trips. After the walking tour of the city we went a short distance by coach to a traditional armoury where they made swords and armour. Very traditional and interesting for a short interlude. It was then off to Segovia and an almost 1 1/2 hour trip. That in itself was not boring as the scenery was constantly changing and JJ provided an commentary including the history of the srea. As we entered the mountain region we encountered snow, fortunately not lying on the motorway but it made a very pretty scene for December. Segovia was just as interesting as Toledo and again we did a walking tour of the city with interesting commentary and lovely old historic buildings, of special note were the Roman Aqueduct, the cathedral (which is huge) and the old castle guarding the surrounding countryside. We had lunch (included with the trip) in a very traditional restaurant. The meal was hearty meat and vegetable soup followed by suckling pig and potatoes. The suckling pig was brought to the side of the table and the waiter divided it up using the edge if a plate. The food was excellent combined with wine and water. The journey home to Madrid was mostly made in the dark and we encountered some heavy traffic as we entered the Madrid area. All in all a brilliant day out. Full marks for excellent organisation, great commentary and tour guides of lovely old towns plus a really interesting and local meal. I would recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys unique places and history of the region..

Oskar was an excellent informed and classy guide , thr trip was very well organized and also Rafael our driver Was at superlative . Toledo is a unique place full of history ..and tourists . Happy I did it and took a break from Madrid .

We had a great time visiting Toledo with our lovely guide, Arantxa. She was a joyous and kind person who walked us through this amazing city and showed and explained the top sites.

Our guide Beatrice was exceptional; she was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and professional from start to end. Even without the tours inside the cathedral, synagogue and mosque, it was wonderful just wandering the streets and enjoying the views and sights. Definitely worth taking this day trip to Toledo! Our driver, Rafael was very friendly but more importantly was a great bus driver.
