The hike was easy. It’s basically walking down 500+ steps to the waterfall and then climbing 500+ steps back up. A great workout for the glutes! I especially loved it after three big, full meals the day before. The stairs are well kept, and there are rest areas along the way. We wore sleeveless tops, short shorts, and Crocs, and there were no bugs. Parking was easy and free, and the admission fee was $20 per person. The area is beautiful with lots of lush greeneries, and once you reach the waterfall, you have the option to swim in clear water. Be sure to pack your own towels. There are bathrooms, changing areas, showers, and restaurant upstairs. After finishing the hike back up, there’s a butterfly garden… though I only saw one butterfly in the garden. I also loved the inspirational quotes along the hike.

Very crowded and touristy, but worth it if you want a quick well maintained waterfall experience. We enjoyed getting in the pools at the bottom of falls.

Well worth the 500+ steps to see the beautiful waterfall and have a dip in the pools at the bottom. The walk down is a built path, mostly steps. It is hard going on the way back up! The rocks in the pools are slippery and tricky to walk on - definitely worth sandals or beach shoes.

Beautiful waterfall. Be prepared for all the stairs as it is not for everyone. The restaurant and gift shop were also nice. 4 stars only because of the stairs, but that’s not a reflection on the excursion. We did not swim at the base which might have given more rest

Beautiful spot. Can be crowded and hard to get pics. Be prepared for 15 min stairs all the way down and back up! Quite the workout lol. But nonetheless, deff worth the visit!

Visiting La Fortuna Waterfall was one of our absolute favorite experiences of our honeymoon. Everything was so well maintained — from the clean, organized facilities at the top to the sturdy, well-kept stairs leading down. The waterfall itself is stunning, powerful, peaceful, and surrounded by lush greenery. The shallow pools nearby were unbelievably blue and clear, perfect for relaxing and taking in the view. We loved that the staff carefully managed the number of visitors at the bottom, so it never felt crowded. We stayed for about two hours, completely enchanted. It was truly magical — a must-see for anyone visiting the area.

This was the best thing we did in Costa Rica, better than snorkeling, better than zip lines, better than tubing the river!! It was epic! The last waterfall was legit, but I'm glad i did it!!

This is a must see waterfall. Yes it is 530 steps down a paved path but it is worth it. If you want to you can swim in this clear water. They have clean restrooms, showers, changing areas along with restaurants, snacks, and drinks.
