Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse Fully-guided Tour

Маяк Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse находится на самой юго-западной точке Австралии. По заверениям на табличках неподалеку где-то там встречаются Южный и Индийский океан. Википедия и прочие ученые с этим фактом, правда, не очень согласны, считая что Южный океан находится несколько ...ммм.. южнее. Им, конечно, виднее, но знак рядом с маяком есть :) Маяк возвышается над поверхностью земли на 39 метров (56 метров над уровнем моря). Отражательный фонарь светит яркостью в 1 миллион свечей, свет виден на 48 км вокруг. Виды с маяка совершенно потрясающие. С одной стороны - Антарктика, с другой - Индия. При хорошо развитом воображении увидеть можно обе. Дух захватывает. Как водится, возникновению маяка предшествовал ряд драматических событий: 22 судна разбились о скалы, прежде чем в 1881 году было решено, что надо бы построить маяк. Строили маяк с 1895 по 1896 из известняка, добытого неподалеку. Обо всем этом нам рассказывал гид, да и в аудио-гидах, выданных на входе в музейный комплекс, тоже об этом было сказано немало. В общем, это стоит того, чтобы посмотреть. Я бы сюда еще раз вернулась.

A great experience on a very windy day giving us a small snippet of the obstacles the lighthouse keepers and their families faced every day

We loved this tour giving insights into the history of the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse and the climb to the top. We had never been inside a lighthouse before. The museum also was really interesting, make sure you go into see the movie. The guided tour to the top of the lighthouse was so cool, we were lucky enough to be the only 2 people on the tour that hour. Climbed to the top and walked around the outside in blistering winds was amazing. Our guide was amazing. There are not many places in the world where you get to see 2 Oceans meet. The views from the top of the lighthouse where the Southern Ocean meets the Indian Ocean were stunning, even though it was a horrid day outside. Well worth the experience in this lovely little Town.

The guided tour to the top of the lighthouse was very informative and amazing. The museum and site was also great. We would recommend this to any lighthouse house lovers.

Interesting as it was beautiful. Highly recommend. Historical exhibits were all fascinating and the scenery was absolutely stunning.

There are not many places in the world where you can see two Oceans meet. The lighthouse guided tourn is a must do, the guides are great and gives you the history of the place, once you are at the top and outside, you can see the vastness of the place - it's really something else.

As someone who isn’t good with heights I am so glad I did it - the views are spectacular and the guide was really knowledgeable
