400 Years ago the first Dutch East India Company ships arrived back in Holland filled with the Chinese blue and white porcelain. This porcelain became very popular among affluent families such as the European Royals. When the import of Chinese porcelain declined as a result of civil wars in China, the Dutch potteries seized the opportunity and developed their own version of this blue and white porcelain. This resulted in the birth of Delft Blue in the Netherlands. Nowadays, Delft Blue is one of the true Dutch icons.

The museum was fascinating! Seeing the workers actually doing their craft was crazy. The employees were extremely helpful and very nice.

I learned so much and loved the employees being so kind to all of us. I will definitely come back with other family members.

The tour is self guided… reading panels in each room, looking at samples and watching screens showing how it is done. It was well laid out, informative and we enjoyed it. There is an option for using an audio player but it says the same thing and we didn’t use it much. There are some very cool and interesting displays. Walking through the factory was cool and you can stop to watch someone working on the pieces and someone painting. Happily spent quite a long time in there reading and watching it all.

The factory and shop was a very interesting experience. I wish there were a little more direction. Such as the time they open and close. There was no guide, but there was an audio guide with stops along the way. You are completely on your own.

Great museum and self guided tour. The hand painted porcelain is outstanding. The shop offers a good range for sale but perhaps could include seconds for the less wealthy (it used to do) The cafe stopped serving food at 15:00 ‘because we close at 17:00’ she told us, so while we had sauntered through our visit at a leisurely pace we were not able to have a meal which we were planning. It would have been very helpful to have been told this on arrival. Booking-in is internet dependent - providing a booking reference number is not sufficient so we had some initial difficulty due to phone problems. What is the point of a booking reference number if it can’t be tracked back? Sorrow felt that the gorgeous delft blue toilets and basins of latter years had been replaced with standard white fittings.

This tour is an absolute MUST. Delft is an integral part of the dutch heritage and this museum and tour is really well organized. Delft is a lovely town not far from Amsterdam so it's an easy train trip and about a 15 minute walk from the train station. There's also a very sweet cafe at the museum that is great for lunch.

I truly enjoyed the museum and factory tour. There is a free audio tour available. Take it! That way, you get more out of the museum. They explained the process of making the pottery and the history of the Delft blue. The factory tour was short but I found it interesting. You could also see the products being hand painted. There is also a well stocked shop which had various items with wide price range.

We were looking forward to the Factory and Museum experience. The Museum was very informative with a wide display of pottery. It was particularly interesting to learn the history of pottery in Delft. We were very disappointed with the Factory part of the experience. There was a video to introduce you to the start of the process and one man finishing of a peace of pottery but there was no interaction between him and the visitors. We continued and came to an enclosed room where a lady was hand paining a plate. Again, there was no interaction between her and the visitors. She spent more time texting on her phone, than painting so we walked on. The factory experience was, sorry to say, very disapointing. The shop has a wide range of Delft iconic products.

Beautiful museum about Delft Porcelain. The museum explains the history of porcelain and also walks through a work place where currently porcelain is produced. There is a nice collection of porcelain in the museum, you can also do a workshop to make your own tile. I highly recommend this museum.
