Your marine biologist will also explain how this delicate ecosystem maintains a pure balance and what must be done to preserve and protect the Bio Bay “Laguna Grande." It is a very special place on Planet Earth! All gear, snacks, pictures and kayak lessons are included. Minimum age is 6 years old. Children under 6 years of age are not permitted on any of our tours.

Heed the warnings that you will get wet. There were people barefoot which was a bad idea. You actually walk through a backlot and across jagged area then out in the water to the kayaks. We were prepared and I'm happy we did it. Unfortunately we hit a torrential downpour for about 15 minutes. I'd read reviews about moon being the major factor for bioluminescence, but the light pollution from the city far outweighed anything the moon could've impacted. We saw the bioluminescence under the tarp by splashing the water. So it was almost cool. No reason not to go with the lowest cost provider on this one.

This is a tour that if you come with 2 people they put you in a tandem kayak. This creates a problem for me as my wonderful husband always works against me.. There is a smell that is nort pleasant but the guides are top notch. They kept us entertained . They give you a tarp for over your kayak so you can see better.

Yamari and Catalina were amazing! So friendly and kind! Our tour guide was incredible. So knowledgeable and patient. Catalina was so helpful and very attentive!

Schedule your trip when there is minimal moonlight or sky is cloud covered. Kayak out into bay is through mangroves which is dark. Unfortunately, we could only see little specs of color when covered with a tarp in our kayaks and splashing around. The crew tried to provide an experience and was informative but the moonlight was too bright.

Great experience. Kayaking at night was really fun. We had a full moon with skies that cleared just as we arrived in the lagoon, a full moon at that (not ideal on this tour as full darkness is better) but don't let that detour you, we used tarps to see the glowing bioluminescent plankton. But kayaking by moonlight, that was a highlight! Youdiel, Michael, Amoury and Eli were great. I really liked how safety seemed to be a priority, along with fun and educational talks.

This was a well-managed tour to one of the world's most unique places. The entire team was professional, safety-minded and patient. The kayaking is not strenuous but you will have to work for the reward. Blocking out the moon and other lights made all the difference in seeing the bioluminescence. I highly recommend this team.

The kayak ride was fun and we felt safe with the tour guides. They had tarps to put over us so we good see the bioluminescent plankton. The only thing that could have been better was having more time with the tarps. There was only one so only a few kayaks could use it at a time.

Very fun way to end a busy day. There were a few tour guides that helped out throughout, the lead guy for us was Eli. The tour is pretty relaxing, as you are navigating a network of mangrove roots. Once you get the hang of operating the kayak, it gets a little bit easier. However, visibility is bad, and you gotta be careful you don’t hit your head or the side of your boat on the mangroves. Seeing the luminescent plankton was awesome. The guides cover you up with a tarp to block out all stray light, and you can clearly see the little guys swimming around in the water. Highly recommended!

We were in PR for 2 weeks and this tops the list of things we did. Experiencing Bioluminescent Bay was on our bucket list and we couldn’t have been happier with the way it went. We went out on kayaks at 8pm. Our guides were super cool and they took us through about 30 min of thick mangroves before we arrived at the open water where the water sparkled with each stroke of the paddle. We shook our hands and paddles in the water and it was like sparks coming off our hands. It’ll also put off sort of a glow around the paddle when you stir up the water. We had a blast and we will remember it forever. I can’t recommend this enough.

- Our kayaks are all tandem kayaks for two people - you are booking per person not per kayak. If one space is left, that means there is 1 space on a tandem kayak.
- Guest under 18 yrs of age must be accompanied by an adult.
- The owner of the service animal must provide a Licensed Life-vest by the Coast Guard for the animal. The animal must be in total control all the time. Keep in mind that there will be many people around in the dark.
- Guest that are not able to complete the tour for any reason will not be provided a refund of any type.
- All guests must be able to row their kayaks by themselves. One of the requirements is that you are able to get in and out of the kayak on your own and be able to maneuver it. If you are an unexperienced kayaker we highly suggest you choose the earlier tour.
- If one space is left, that means there is 1 space (for 1 person) on a tandem kayak (No single kayaks available). You will be accompanied by another guest on the tour.
- All guest must arrive 30 mins before the start of their tour. We respectfully will not accept or wait for any guest after this time.
- If necessary, a tarp (canopy) may be used during the excursion to block any light pollution and enhanced the experience.
- In order to best appreciate the bioluminescent phenomena our tours run at sunset and early evening and it can get quite dark in the mangrove canal. So, if you are afraid of darkness, a first time kayaker, or have small kids we strongly suggest taking the earlier, sunset trip. This way you can see where you are going, get use to the environment and sharpen your kayaking skills
- Due to the immense popularity the Bio Bay tour, at times can get crowded. It’s not uncommon to meet up with other tour groups waiting to access the canal leading to the lagoon. There can be bumping other kayaks along the way.
- Please keep in mind that this tour takes place in a natural environment and that the bioluminescent phenomenon, although rare, can be seen year round. The intensity of brightness is unpredictable and can vary from minimal to very bright suddenly.
- SPECIAL NOTE: We encourage our guests to not reserve the tour on the same day of arrival to the Island, including coming from Vieques or Culebra. If the FLIGHT or FERRY is delayed and the guest misses the tour the guest will not be entitled to a refund or rescheduling.
- TOUR TIME might change depending on sunset time. If so we will send a reminder for updated meeting time.
- This tour takes place in the water. Expect to get completely wet. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet. We recommend to bring a change of clothes and towel for after the trip.
- Tour is not canceled in rainy days. We will get wet anyways ;)
- There are public bathrooms on-site, but they are not always in good condition. You may consider stopping in fast food before getting to the meeting site or using the bathrooms from the nearby stores/restaurants which are sometimes available.
- Certain time of the year great amounts of sargassum (seaweed) arrive to our coasts. This can make paddling to feel like a workout. Also the natural decomposition odor might be unpleasant.
- Even if Viator system allows the guest to write weight over the limit, it will still be 240 lbs the weight limit.

- For safety reasons, children under 6 years old CANNOT participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.
- Those who have epilepsy, back problems, claustrophobia, heart conditions, dizziness, recent surgery or any other condition that may put life in risk are not allowed to participate in PURE ADVENTURE tour.
