This was a great tour with our guide, Hiroaki Horiuchi-san. It was a lot of fun going to the monkey park, seeing Obuse, eating delicious food and trying local sake, and staying in a ryokan. Highly recommend this experience!

We were in Japan for a whole month and this Nagano tour is one of the best tours we did. Wei Wei fan our tour guide was exceptional. She made us feel so welcome and treated us like old friends. The food on tour was great. Chilli ice cream was surprisingly delicious. The locale was so nice and it felt authentic. Until now we still talk about those huge roasted chestnuts! The private tour is so worth it. Happy to do again and highly recommend. Three thumbs up!

Our guide Wei Wei who met us at Nagano station was perfect for this trip. Wei Wei was very knowledgeable on Nagano, besides the sights, she also made sure we tried local delicacies. For lunch she took us to a really nice Soba restaurant with a perfect view of a Japanese Garden. She also let us know the great Japanese artist Hokusai spent his last year’s in Nagano and there is a museum with his work. She took us there even though it was not on our itinerary because we were interested. We also had local chestnut deserts. Wei Wei picked out a really nice cafe for that feat and marked sure we also enjoyed the local apples and juice. Overall I am very satisfied with Wei Wei, her attention to details, ability to accommodate and local knowledge.

early start from Tokyo to get to Nagano station but well worth it. Picked up from the station by our friendly guide Wei. Driven around in a private car. Saw a huge temple and walked around the village. Highly recommend the "spicy ice cream". Wei took the time and effort to get to know us. Even took us to a recycle shop as an impromptu at my request. Drove us to the chestnut and apple prefectures. Roasted chestnuts were huge and delicious. The soba for lunch , also a treat to the tastebuds. the walk up to see the monkeys was beautiful- entrace fee included. Though there was no monkeys on the day we visited, they are wild so no grudges there. HIghlight was the ryokan stay. The dinner was just an experience in itself- all 12 courses of it. the public onsen was absolute bliss- plus additional private onsen included as well. the breakfast the next day was a nice touch. with everything included in this private trip, I say you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Tokyo feeds the senses; Nagano feeds the soul. We booked the 2 day Nagano tour with 4/5 star ryokan. Words cannot describe the level of fulfillment and wonder we felt after this experience. Our tour guide, Ilhom, was awesome and did an outstanding job creating a custom experience for us that was both really fun and culturally engaging. A few of the day's adventures included a brief hike- stunning colors and views, monkeys, sake wine tasting, ninja puzzle rooms, fresh miso & ramen- local grown produce and snow (yes there was snow in May!) We stayed overnight at a ryokan (traditional Japanese style inn) located in an onsen town that had a strong sense of history and heritage; its pleasant, unexpected surprises found us at every corner. Exploring hadn't been this fun since I was 10! Ilhom is knowledgable and energetic, pleasant to be around! We started the day off as strangers and felt like he was family by the end. Ilhom is an invaluable asset to this 5-star quality tour. 12 out of 10 would recommend this to able like-minded adventurers seeking authenticity, beauty and inspiration. Thank you Japan Awaits! Thank you Ilhom! It's farewell for now until we meet again!

Our guide Ilhom was very friendly and helpful, we feel just a like a travel with friend more like a guide, and he was very good guide too. Strong recommendation.

After a bit of a break-neck, whistlestop tour of Japan, it was great to arrive in the peaceful region of Nagano with its fantastic mountains and picturesque towns. Our guild, Ilhom, a transplant from Uzbekistan, was just as knowledgeable and friendly as any native and took us to some expected (the snow monkeys) and unexpected places: a dumpling hut, a Udon shop in Obuse, a 300-year-old Japanese Saki distillery and for some fantastic vistas. I am now recommending Nagano to anyone looking for a side-trip in Japan -- forget Fuji. I wish we could have spent more time in Obuse, especially to see the Hokusai museum, but there are always return trips!

Our guide Ilhom was very friendly and knowledgeable and was happy to suite the itinerary and show us things to our interests - whilst the tour offers set destinations was still time to venture off along the way. Snow Monkey Park was amazing, such a cool experience for all ages who have never seen before. Note there can be quiet a walk depending on the weather and which carpark is open. Japanese Ryokan was quiet an experience, recommend to research 'Ryokan' prior to ensure you have a full understanding - not all hotels offer private or western bathrooms - food was definitely a traditional experience. Considering how you are travelling after the tour the next morning as local train is 1hour + from Nagano Station - especially when you have lots of luggage.

- Must provide birth date at the time of booking
- A current valid passport is required on the day of travel

When it is warm and the sun is out, the monkeys tend to be more active and move around the area, grooming themselves. While winter is not the only time to see snow monkeys, please note that they are wild animals and it is difficult to predict their behavior.
