What a fantastic day we had from start to finish! Yama-san took care of all of the travel details and provided us with such interesting stories and facts about the region. Magome was so quaint and beautiful and the trail hike after was superb - so special!. Yama-san’s enthusiasm was delightful - even as we walked in pouring rain! An excellent day - would highly recommend this tour. Arigato Yama-san!

We had a wonderful day with Yoko today walking part of the samurai trail. Our guide Yoko gave us a great insight about the history of the area and was a delight to spend the day with exploring the trail. 10 out of 10 !

Absolutely beautiful- my son and I were blessed with a beautiful, sunny day. Our tour guide, Maki, was excellent, knowledgeable, and helped craft the experience so that we got the maximum benefit. We have awesome photos and memories from this trip. One note- the description of moderate physical activity is a bit understated. I am 55 and in good health but found the terrain challenging- you ascend up for the first hour, then back downhill for the next 2 hrs. Some sections of the trail are steep. It was all worth it because the views were beautiful but be prepared to exert yourself. Great tour overall

A great day out. If you do the full walk from the start then it’s a long walk and the first part is uphill. We got a bus to the waterfall and then walked down hill. The villages at the start and the end were excellent. We were also lucky to have an excellent guide in Yama San.

We have had a fantastic day on the Nakasendō trail going from Magome to Tsumago. Yama San has been a fantastic guide keeping us both entertained and informed. We especially enjoyed the places he found for us that were away from the crowds that most visitors won’t know to go to. The trail through the forest was breath taking and we were even able to drink fresh mountain water from a special spot. It was not to taxing a walk as we went from the waterfall to Tsumago. If you walk from Magome the first part is uphill. The villages themselves are very representative of old Japan and are very striking. Even the gift shops are traditional. Yama San took many photos along our walk and some from very unusual angles which were very striking. We will have some great memories to take home

This was a wonderful tour of a lovely part of the Nakasendo Way in mid-November. I opted for the private tour to ensure it would happen on a particular day (weather permitting) rather than risk rescheduling due to not meeting the minimum number of participants. Arrangements were fine and Aki was a terrific guide and companion for the day! Her personal knowledge added a lot to the experience. I highly recommend this if you want a taste of the Nakasendo Way but not the entire Way. I was pleasantly surprised that the trail was not crowded at all, given how many people were in Magome when we arrived. I'll admit it was slightly more of a physical requirement than I expected, but fine if you're in reasonable shape. And the fact that it starts in Magome and ends in Tsumago definitely makes it easier than if it had gone in the opposite direction! Make sure to wear footwear that grips well.

We enjoyed being with our lovely guide Yama-san, which made the travel easy. The walk was scenically rewarding, it was great to be active, and the tour was really interesting
