A great day. The lake is stunning and Diana was a knowledgeable and engaging guide. We also enjoyed the lunch and the visits to the farm and the art shop.

It was a lovely experienc werwe we had the opportunity the see magnificentlandscapes and get acquainted with the way of life of people from the highlands. We also visited an art gallery at Tigua , the place where most of the masks used during traditional celebrations are fabricated by hand, to finally get to the crater of Quilotoa volcano. The views the the turqouise waters are astonishing, and our guide Fernando did his best to provide information of interest to all the participants.

Irene is a wonderful guide and person. She did a great job talking and explaining both in English and Spanish. Very knowledgeable and engaging, she was delightful. Plus, we were lucky to have a great weather and did see Cotopaxi from the Pan America highway in all its glory. The company, Quito Bus Tours, organized everything well, Ivan, the driver is a very safe driver. Recommended!

It was a full day experience which was fun and informative. While the travel between each site was quite lengthy, there were enough breaks and the guide Diana made it interesting by sharing information about Ecuador and its local history and culture. The driver was professional and got us to our destinations on time. The group was reasonably-sized, not too large and not too small. Quilotoa was beautiful! The short stop at Senor Julian's house was informative and humbling. Overall, a wonderful trip!

We had the most amazing experience on this shared group tour with Irene as our guide! From the very start, everything was seamless—our group of about eight was picked up right on time, right in front of our hotel, which made things so easy. Irene immediately set the tone for the day; she’s not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also warm, friendly, and made us feel like we were exploring with a good friend who just happened to know everything about the area. She skillfully guided the tour in both English and Spanish, making sure everyone felt included. Since the tour starts early (around 7:30AM), we really appreciated that the very first stop included breakfast for those of us who missed it at our hotels. Such a thoughtful touch! From there, we visited a local village, which was a highlight for learning the authentic Quichua (Kicwa) history and culture. Irene gave us all the tips we needed before our descent into Quilotoa—layers, good shoes, cash for local extras, and small essentials like water and snacks. Her preparation made all the difference. Before heading down into the ancient volcano, we stopped at a local restaurant to pre-order our lunches and take some scenic group photos. I’m 48 and not in the best shape, while my husband is 60 and fit as a fiddle, and our group spanned a variety of ages. Thanks to Irene’s encouragement and careful pacing, everyone made it down. She even stayed at the back of the group to make sure nobody was left behind, which was so reassuring. Along the way, we had the chance for $1 photo ops with local women in traditional dress—a lovely cultural moment. At the bottom of the crater, the views were breathtaking. Coming back up was definitely more challenging! Some of us, myself included, paid $10 to ride horses and mules up, while others hiked back on their own. No matter the choice, Irene kept us all together, once again coming up last to make sure every member of the group was accounted for before leading us to our delicious lunch. This tour was truly unforgettable—a perfect balance of culture, adventure, and care. We cannot recommend it enough, especially with Irene as your guide. She made the day smooth, fun, and memorable from start to finish. If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate—go for it!

Pick up and drop off at hotel. Drive there and back on pan American highway with volcanos all around. Breaks for breakfast and to visit an indigenous family, loads of entertaining info on Ecuador, its culture and food made the journey there fly by. The lagoon is unique and stunning. The walk down is easy - i’m fairly fit and enjoyed the challenge of the walk back up - but donkeys were available. The group i was with were really friendly which i appreciated as a solo traveller. Irene was a really great tour guide - enthusiastic and engaging and she made us all laugh.
