Fox and Franz Twin Glacier Helicopter Flight from Franz Josef

A massive thank you to The Helicopter Line & Glacier Helicopters West Coast for going above and beyond to reschedule us around the weather so we could tick this off our bucket list in our final hours at Franz Josef. The booking process from start to finish was seamless, and the team were incredibly responsive and helpful throughout. What an unforgettable experience. Easily one of the highlights of our trip and truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Would highly recommend to anyone. Worth every cent!

We booked a flight up and over the glacier and mountain range. After checking in and being weighed we were on our way. The weather was magical. Climbing up and landing between the peaks on pristine snow. Breathtaking. Continuing up and along the glaciers seeing the way it has gouged out the valleys. Your pilot talking to you and explaining the lay of the land as we go. Make sure you have your camera. Try and book the earliest flights to get the rising sun over the peaks and fresh snow.

Great experience. Staff and pilot were very professional. Safety was clearly key factor. We landed on the glacier which was very memorable.

Beautiful views, and great to get out on the snow! It’s a ‘have to’ activity if you’re coming to Franz Josef. I hope I get to come back one day.

An incredible way to experience one of the most unique and beautiful places in the world! Safe, knowledgeable, friendly.

Before you purchase tickets for a flight, make sure you are guaranteed a front seat or left hand side seat for this trip. We were placed on the right hand side of the helicopter, behind the pilot. Unfortunately all the viewing of the glaciers were on the left hand side and the pilots commentary was also based on the left side views. When you pay the same price as everyone else for a flight, you expect to see the same things. Yes we did have views of the mountains and valleys out the right side window but we bought the flight to see glacier views! At no time were we told that we would have restricted views of the glaciers. I contacted the company whose stock standard reply was it had to do with weight distribution which I find interesting as the 3 other passengers on the left side were of fine build and weight whereas we were a much bigger and heavier build. Anyway not worth the money if you get stuck on the right hand side on this flight.

Spectacular views and awesome staff. Pilot was fantastic and gave us plenty of information about the history of the glaciers during the flight. Landing on the glacier and taking in the view was an incredible experience not to be missed!

Amazing, squeezed the flight in between rain storms, awesome trip. Pilot was great, giving a commentary as we flew as well as handling incoming messages from other aircraft. Thanks.
