Walking Guided tour in Udaipur

Went on a solo- guided walking tour, it was pleasant and informative . Will recommend it to anyone who is visiting the old city.

Mahendra was our knowledgeable and patient guide. He was very generous with his time, spoke calmly and walked at a relaxed pace, accommodating my husband's mobility issues. At my request, he helped us with shopping by taking us to an art co-op and a stunning textile store in a restored Haveli. Communication was excellent both before, during and after our tour. Highly recommend.

Our guide, Yogendra messaged us several times to confirm booking and to coordinate meeting on the morning of our tour. This is was very reassuring. We walked on a rather hot day so he was always pointing out places to get a drink. We took plenty of water with us anyway. Yogendra had a great knowledge of the history of the city from when it was founded, the creation of the lakes and the big palaces and the culture and religion of the area. He also had lots of little bits of information about the architecture and history of many small buildings that you could easily walk past without noticing. The roads we walked were narrow and busy with traffic but it can’t move very quickly. We soon learnt to just keep walking and it avoids you! Our tour started at 9am and we were back at our hotel by 2pm. We were given the opportunity to use a Tuktuk to shorten the route from our hotel but it was a walking tour and we chose to walk. It gave more time to chat. The Grand Palace had an extra entry fee but if you are over 60 years take ID and get in half price! We took our tour in English but he is also fluent in German and has travelled widely in Germany.

We really enjoyed our time with our guide Yogendra. He is very knowledgeable and interesting and took us to visit places we would never have otherwise gone.

Yogendra is a great guide. He arranged an excellent safe driver Khan for a multi day tour from Jodphur through Ranakpur and Mt Abu ending in Udaipur. This driver and car was the best and safest we had on our whole trip in India. Yogendra was easy to work with, checked in on our journey multiple times. When I met him in Udaipur he gave my parents and I a wonderful tour of Udaipur- he knows much about history, has a great demeanor, was kind and flexible with my parents who are in their 80s. He was very open to doing anything we wanted and to help us in any way with the rest of our stay. Highly recommend him for any kind of tour in the area!

We had an excellent tour of this vibrant and historic city with Yogendra, our charming and intelligent guide. He collected us from our hotel and took us on a wonderful walking tour around the historical and religious sights, sharing his knowledge with wit and generosity. We learnt so much about Udaipur and about the religious culture and beliefs that underpin the wider Indian context. It was a pleasure to spend time with him; a very happy memory to take away with us. We highly recommend.

Great walking tour. The guide, Mr. Bhupendra was great. Very well informed, did not hurry us through and negotiated the crowds (it is a holiday week) very well. Informative and highly enjoyable. Traffic this time of the year is more terrible than usual but all worked out. Totally worth it!
