Totally recommended. It's a two and a half trip by car, but Delphi worth it. Also, Panos was an excellent driver and he gave us useful information and recommendations.

Went on a private tour with guide Notis and found him to be very knowledgeable about Greek culture, language and history. He dropped us off at the Delphi site so we could visit the ruins as well as the museum. Both were impressive. After picking us up he took as to a terrific restaurant in the little town up in the mountains where we had a delicious lunch. All in all it was a wonderful day.

A wonderful day! Delphi is the most stunning setting for the impressive archaeological site so special to the ancient Greeks and remains fascinating to people from throughout the world today. The museum housing treasures from votive offerings, artifacts, sculptures and parts of buildings brought to life the architectural remains we had wandered through earlier. The site is steep and there are many steps so be prepared for a workout, but it is well worth the effort. We chose a private tour due to limited time and mobility issues and our driver, Peter from Athens Transfers company, was outstanding. He was punctual, knowledgeable, flexible in accommodating our requests and needs, and a safe, competent driver. We thoroughly enjoyed our day in Delphi - what an experience!

Vasilis, our driver, was wonderful. He arrived promptly and navigated Athens traffic like a pro. Delphi was better than imagined... the views alone were incredible, but add in the ancient ruins and history and it was an unforgettable, bluebird day on the mountain. Our lunch, arranged by Vasilis, was scrumptious and enjoyed on a delightful outdoor mountain terrace. We enjoyed a final stop in Arachova for strolling and window shopping before heading back to Athens.

What a wonderful beginning to our Greek adventure! Vasilis (Bill) met us promptly at 7:00 am for our trip to Delphi. Note, it is a 2.5 hour drive in large part due to Athens traffic. No worries, our private van had wi-fi! Delphi was incredible if for no other reason than the stunning views; oh, and the history, of course! Do wear walking shoes with good traction...that marble can be slick. We opted for no included lunch, and while we were touring the ancient ruins, Bill made lovely arrangements for us at a local restaurant. On the return trip, we strolled the streets and shopped in Arachova, a charming ski resort town. Don't let the drive time discourage you; Delphi is worth it. Bill was awesome, so patient with all the traffic and making sure we were comfortable throughout the trip.

The climb to the top of Delphi and then the fabulous lunch we had. Our guide, Notis, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and picked us up on time at each place.

Our day trip from Athens to Delphi went exactly as expected. We were picked up on time at our departure point. We actually did not remember that our hotel was on a pedestrian only st, Aiolou 31, the Athens City View Urban Suite. So we notified Viator of pick up destination then changed to a location just down the street, Lukumades at 21 Aiolou. The driver was courteous, answered questions, provided opportunities for breakfast and toilet breaks, and of course safely drove us to Delphi. He recommended we tour the ruins first while it was cooler, then see the museum. Allow for at least 2 1/2 hours for archaeological site and museum because you do start at bottom of site and steadily move up through the site, until you get to the stadium ruins and turn around. We chose to leave Athens at 7:00 am and we did miss the traffic(also it was an October Sunday). We chose the no lunch option and paid for lunch ourselves in Delphi, where we ate at Vakho’s Taverna (recommended by our driver). Either with or without lunch seems to be okay. We had a great trip enjoying the mountains and discussing Delphi during our drive. I strongly recommend that you read more on Delphi’s history and about the ruins or hire a guide. We love history so chose to self guide. Thanks again to Yanni, our driver, for a wonderful day in Greece.

The tour was with a driver and car. A guide was not included. The driver was pleasant, but not licensed to guide at Delphi, so the tour was on our own. After rechecking the tour agreement, I now realize this was accurately described, but feel the the amount charged was overly high for only a car, driver and lunch. This could have been far better if the driver was a licensed guide.

The Delphi site was amazing. Our guide/driver Notis made the trip even more memorable. He was knowledgeable, charming, kind and funny. The lunch spot he brought us to had an amazing view and excellent food. We had a great day.
