Delphi Guided Small Group Day Tour from Athens

Fantastic Day. The trip to get there takes about 2 hours+ and is entirely worth it! Our driver was great. We were just fortunate to have the day to ourselves as nobody else had booked that day. No photo I have ever seen of Delphi does the place justice! It is struggle between the amazing history and archaeology of the site and the stunning scenery. We had done a trip with Getaways Greece the day before which was just as good. I would highly recommend both this tour and the company

I was so looking forward to the day trip to Delphi from Athens and had done my own background reading about the Oracle, the temple of Apollo and the sacred site. This was just as well as the main tour guide rushed us up the hill to see the stadium and walked past the temple and the location of the Oracle without mentioning ONE thing about the Oracle, the legends and stories. He didn't even mention the Oracle or Apollo. He then rushed us back down the hill so we weren't late for lunch. Half the group was left behind at the bottom of the hill due to the steepness of the terrain and the uneven ground. The other half would have appreciated a more leisurely pace up the hill rather than the fast trotting past the tour guide set. The Assistant was very helpful and kind but the main Guide didn't seem to care about anything other than his lunch! The lunch meal was great but we had to wait quite a long time to be served. I was the last person to receive their meal - only because the kind bus driver asked the restaurant staff where is was (probably forgotten). The guide again was too busy eating himself to worry about his guests for the day. Very poor form from the "expert".

We were picked up by Theodor, the driver and George, the tour guide near our rental. George was very quite during the drive to and from the site. Theo did most of the talking while driving. Once we were at the site George walked way ahead of us and made us feel very rushed. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour so we weren't slowing anyone down. He would rush up the site and made us feel like we had to keep up with him, even though he said he would wait for us. We felt like we didn't get an opportunity to enjoy the site and take pictures. George was very much on script and had a hard time if we asked questions while he was giving one of his speeches.

We had a fabulous all day roundtrip tour from Athens to Delphi. Our driver, Alex, picked us up on time at our hotel. The vehicle was roomy and comfortable for the long drive. Alex reviewed our itinerary and discussed any changes we would like. He was professional and shared his knowledge of the countryside sites we passed they on the drive. He made the drive fun and informative. He selected a perfect restaurant in Delphi village for lunch. The food was very good and the view was breathtaking overlooking the Gulf of Corinth. During lunch Alex explained the features of the dramatic landscape to us. The town was picturesque and lovely. Our guide for the Delphi Archeological Site and the Museum of Delphi, Theo, provided us with a private tour. His in-depth knowledge of Delphi's archeological finds/history with accompanying significance was phenomenal. His excitement and enthusiasm in explaining everything to us made our walk up the Sacred Way worthwhile. Thank you, Theo!

We got very lucky that our small group trip was actually just the two of us along with our guides, George and Vasilis. The minivan was very comfortable and Vasilis was a professional and courteous driver. George peppered the lengthy drive with several points of information while also letting us relax and enjoy the trip. When we arrived at Delphi, George was a wealth of information about the museum and archaeological site. We got the added bonus that George studied history at the University of Athens! I appreciated both guides for their awareness of larger groups to try to maneuver around them. Lunch in the modern Delphi town was perfect with an incredible view and delicious food. We stopped by Arahova on the way back for incredible scenic views. This was an amazing bargain and I would highly recommend this trip and our guides.

We learnt that it was too hot to visit Athens this summer. That's why we made this trip in autumn. The weather was just perfect ! Thank you very much.

Perfect small group trip to visit Delphi. Guide was knowledgeable and quizzed us on Greek history and mythology on our way to the site. She gave us enough information to appreciate the guided tour of the museum and site. Afterwards, we had lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to Athens. Everything about the trip was on time and went smoothly.

Great tour. Both guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. Well organised tour. Bus arrived on time. We felt we had enough time to see the museum and the archeological site.

The sites themselves and local lunch was amazing. Driver Alex very nice and personable. Tour guide Theo amazingly knowledgeable and pleasant but a little hard to understand with his accent. He gave constant info that towards the end I could not listen any longer. But overall great tour. Drive from Athens was real long… 2 1/2 hours. Don’t think I would do it if I knew time driving. Area was beautiful though.
