2D1N Mount Kinabalu Climbing

It was an unforgettable experience climbing Mount Kinabalu! We were very fortunate to have mostly clear weather during our ascent — just a few short showers here and there, but overall, it was dry and pleasant. Our guide was incredibly helpful, patient, and encouraging throughout the climb. He even doubled up as our porter since there weren’t enough available that day — mad respect to him for carrying a 10kg load up the mountain! He also took great photos for us and guided me carefully when the terrain got tricky near the summit. A few tips for future climbers: Bring a fleece jacket or something warm — the temperature near the summit can get really cold. If you’re prone to altitude sickness, consider taking preventive pills and walk in a zigzag pattern to ease the symptoms. Hiking poles are a great help for balance and support, especially on the descent. Overall, it was a manageable yet rewarding climb — an experience I’ll never forget!

The drivers we had were very helpful and accommodating. Our guide on the mountain was great and he really knew the timing we’d need to make it to the summit for sunrise and then make it to the lows circuit via ferrata. It’s a tough hike but a worthwhile experience!

After contacting various agencies to hike Mt Kinabalu, I settled on Borneo Calling and I’m so grateful I did! Booking process was easy and seamless and Mei was more than helpful with all the questions I had! When it came time to actually hike, I have to give the most massive thanks to my guide and savior Jas!!!! I knew it was going to be difficult (up was hard but ok, but down was awful haha!) but he was exceptional in guiding me and helping me literally every step of the way! I believe that if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t have summited nor much less made it back down. I highly recommend this hike (keep in mind, it’s A LOT of up and what seems like FOREVER to go back down) and I especially recommend doing it with Borneo Calling! Thank you Mei and Jas!!!!

The whole hiking trip was very well organised, with timely updates and checkups ! As it was raining during our hike up to panalaban, we were initially afraid that the hike to the summit nay be cancelled. Fortunately the rain stopped and we successfully summited. Throughout the hike, our guide sofian made sure that safety was priority. Always checking that we were safe, explaining signs of altitude sickness. Overall great climb ! Lodges were very clean ! Food and packed lunches were so so good ! Highly recommend to book with Borneo calling !

Very well organized trip, excellent guide Tumas, really enjoyed it. We had great weather the first day, a little rain on the second day but still very nice. Stunning morning views of Mt. Kinabalu. Also meals very good!

hard but very interesting experience.good luck to have a sunny weather at summit. The shape of peaks is so beautiful.And the house on the mountain is very clean and the food is delicious.
