We first take you to Bruges for a short pick-up stop. We stop at a very moving German Cemetery, from where we drive to a section of the WW1 trenches. We will then visit the Monument of the Brooding Soldier. After a short lunchbreak we leave for Flanders Fields which was one of the major battlegrounds in the First World War.
Our expert guide will help you throughout the visit to understand the events that led to the first world war and how the catastrophe developed. We take you to Passchendaele battlefield and the Tyne Cot Cemetery, the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world where British, Australian and Canadian soldiers lie at rest. At 8 pm you attend the Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate (under restoration works until mid-2025), a daily tribute to all Commonwealth soldiers and officers that were missing after battle.

This unique PRIVATE Ypres battlefield tour cover 40km of the Ypres Salient from Ypres to Passchendaele spanning 1914 to 1918, we follow the Australian/Canadian/New Zealand/ South African/ British soldiers as they attacked towards Passchendaele in 1917, I will ascertain your particular areas of interests and tailor the tour to your liking

If you have ancestors that fell in the battle I will tailor the tour where possible to include them

I will meet you at the place of your choice, at your IEPER based accommodation or the IEPER railway station whatever is your preference.

My own gt uncle is commemorated on the memorial to the missing and my gt grandfather suffered horrific wounds at Passchendaele still only 16 years old.

Explore Ypres at your leisure, then take part in the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate before your onward travel to Lille or return to Arras. This is a long and emotional day and can be taken alone or added with another of our day tours. There is an opportunity to follow in a relatives footsteps or lay a wreath at the Menin Gate Ceremony in the evening.
