The tour was great and the 14 coloured mountain was amazing. I would recommend it to everyone. Worth every cent .

About 45 minutes from Humahuaca up a fairly treacherous unpaved "road" the view is well worth the effort. You can get a hire up to the top, but it's a tough drive, we opted for the tour from Humahuaca with a guide and 4-wheel drive for Pesos 15k (about $15) and took 2 12 hours. There are a few local food stalls and a small artisan craft market. This is another must destination see in NW Argentina. The start point at Hunahuaca has a large artisan craft market and shows a typical view of rural Argentine life and is worth a stop too.

The tour we scheduled was not the tour we took. This company changed our tour at the very last minute. There is conflict in the region and there are only a few guides who speak English. Unfortunately they handled this very unprofessionally and told us at the last minute. Plus they repeatedly changed the details which was very frustrating. The tour we ended up taking was only OK. The guide appeared knowledgeable especially if you spoke Spanish.

Martin our guide did a great job explaining everything in English as well as Spanish. The trip was well organized and I would highly recommend it.

The mountains were absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. I would love to go back. However, if it is cloudy, the colors will not show. The tour included other places. The bus broke down on the way back snd we were delayed a couple hours. I was disappointed that Nordic didn’t do anything for us. The original ad showed we got snacks and a couple admissions paid, but it included no admissions and the snd CJ was a small cookie.

Great tour, our guides worked very hard to make it enjoyable. Unforgettable scenery! Would recommend.

We took this trip in February 2020. We did read the other reviews before booking, so we did have some idea of what to expect, so perhaps this review is a little harsh, but read on. The problem with this trip is that it's just too far from Salta - it's three hours on a bus before the first sightseeing stop in Purmamanca. Then it's 45 mins to look around the town before another drive to the Pukara de Tilcara, where there's barely enough time to get to the Pukara at the top of the hill and back before the bus departs for Humahuaca...if you're not fit, you're not going to make it up the hill and back in time. Even if you are fit, there's no enjoyment in rushing. If you choose the Hornocal extension to this tour as we did, the bus stops at the roadside before Humahuaca and you are transferred to a 4 x4 for the trip to see the gorge - it's about 25 mins or more over very rough and very steep roads both ways. We did get 20 mins or more at the top to view Hornocal, and it is spectacular. The return trip from Hornocal drops you in Humahuaca, where you will have barely 30 mins to get lunch (at 3.30pm-ish) and see the town before the bus departs for the four hour journey back to Salta. It's impossible. Groan! Our guide was pleasant, but as others have noted, the PA system on the bus is dire. Add to that her very strong accent with high speed delivery and it was just about incomprehensible. The Spanish speakers on the trip seemed OK with it, and of course we should go with the flow - Argentina is a Spanish speaking country. So, be warned. This trip will show you some spectacular scenery, but 8 hours on a bus for very little time at the sights may not be your bag. If you want to see the sights in and around Purmamanca in a leisurely fashion and give them the time they deserve then you need to stay in the area, ideally with a hire car or a driver.

Our style of travel is not to be guided and spoon fed on common tourist sites. Self discovery and exploration leads to more unique and memorable experiences and that is what Nordic travel offers. They transport you to interesting destinations and leave it up to you to explore - that suited us just fine as there is a chance no only explore and photograph interesting places but also to interact with locals - something that does not usually happen on fully guided tours.

Frankly, it’s splendid! To do without hesitation we went by our own means with rental car the road is largely passable just drive at 40 but really easy attention we climb to 4350 m altitude so gently and drink at least 2l of water and do not overeat before!!
