This is such a unique experience, and I am so glad we fit it into our travel plans. We took a bus from Szczawnica to Sromowce Wyzne-Katy and boarded a traditional Polish wooden raft dating back to the early 19th century for our 2-hour trip. The Dunajec River is between Poland and Slovakia. The gorge was beautiful. We had two rowers wearing traditional costumes and 11 passengers on our raft. We were provided a pamphlet in English to follow along. The rafter narrated the entire trip in Polish. We bought tickets once we arrived, but you can book ahead online. Cost 111 PLN ($31 US) for adults and 78 PLN ($22 US) for seniors and children up to age 10.

Super experience. Maciek is amazing. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 kids booked to the river rafting and from the moment we met he was friendly, kind, very experienced and great with our small kids. We had a good time and Maciek suggested a few things to try based on his knowledge and I'm glad we did! Maciek knows a lot and I'm sad that we met only at the end of our holiday as I would have liked him to take us on other outings especially to the country/mountain areas outside Krakow.

We were picked up on time by Wojciech. He was a fantastic guide. From start to finish we were looked after perfectly. It is quite a long drive but absolutely worth it. The scenery is outstanding. We enjoyed seeing traditional wooden houses and 15th century Church of St Michael the Archangel. Rafting in Dunajec was pleasant. The rafts hold 12 people and it was quite busy. I recommend if you visit Krakow allow yourself 6 days as there is so much to see and do.

One of the highlights of our trip. The weather, scenery and atmosphere was perfect. Every new bend in the river was another sigh of awe. We were lucky enough to spot a bear cub by the river. We were the only Polish speaking couple on the raft, so we had fun translating as some of the comments the raft steerer was coming out with were hilarious.

Thanks to another nearby passenger. He was able to interpret polish to English during guided tour. Was a beautiful trip despite a overcast day. Would definately recommend this trip.

One of the highlights of our trip to Poland! The river and mountains were simply breathtaking. Our guide was sincere and passionate about his life adventures. He shared stories and explained the culture and history of the area throughout the ride. He took time to point out special sights and explain their importance. This is a MUST SEE if you are in the area!!

We've recently returned from a fantastic week stay at the Krakow. We were there from the 13th to the 20th of July and enjoyed every minute. We were made to feel extremely welcome by all tour leaders and were very punctual. I can't not mention Blueberry, when we went rafting the Dunajec River Gorge She was extremely helpful with everything, full of good advice, recommendations and nothing is too much trouble for her. She presented her interpersonal skills in a very professional manner. Hoping to return again next year......Cant wait!

She

What was supposed to be a beautiful day ended in hell. We left in a van to the departure point. Fantastically nice warm weather. There you go on a raft. We had the misfortune to sit at the very back, which meant we had very little legroom and got wet from the paddle every time. Then it started to rain. Then it started pouring, thunderstorming, lightnings. We were completely soaked. Partly due to lightning, it was dangerous with moments between the mountains themselves. There was nothing fun no longer about it, especially when it turned out that we were still half an hour away from the car at the end. No more van in sight, just dropped on the other side of the village.
