We had a terrific tour experience at Herrenchiemsee Palace with Stephanie. I recommend seeing Herrenchiemsee as it is a magnificent palace modeled after Versailles set on a private island in a lake (reached by vintage steam train and scenic boat ride). As this palace is the last of Prince Ludwig’s projects, this tour nicely complements a tour of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof Palaces. Our guide, Stephanie, is very knowledgeable about the history of the House of Wittelsbach, Prince Ludwig as well as the architectural details of Ludwig’s castles which gave me an appreciation of details that I would have missed without her thoughtful commentary. Stephanie is also very positive, upbeat and outgoing as she engaged all of us in her group in conversation which familiarized us with each other. When we became discouraged and disinterested in continuing the tour because of heavy rain, she motivated us all to press forward which rewarded us with a lovely scenic walk around the woman’s island, Fraueninsel, and a lunch where we all tried Kaiserschmarrn pancake with apple sauce at Klosterwirt Chiemsee. I highly recommend this tour with Stephanie as she is an outstanding tour guide..

I booked this trip to Herrenchiemsee castle with radius tours. I was met by my guide Thomas. He was friendly and attentive to the group, and had a lot of knowledge of the area we were visiting. I would book this tour with radius tours, since to get to the castle, you have to take a two trains and a boat, and the hassle of organising the trip independently is removed. I would recommend visiting the castle, as the rooms inside the castle are beautifully decorated, and there is a lot of intricate detail to admire in each room. The gardens surrounding the castle are stunning. This castle is in a lake, and for lunch, we were brought to another island in the lake, which was interesting to see. Having a guide on this trip is useful, since a boat is used for transport, and there are many stops, which can cause confusion. I would recommend this trip as a worthwhile day trip from Munich.

We went with a family on a day long excursion, although it was a long trip our guide Stephanie made all possible to make it comfortable. Stephanie gave interesting information about islands and the castle, was very helpful in organizational questions and just very nice person to talk with:) we had a great time, I recommend this excursion and our guide!

I had never done a tour using rail before but the area is so remote there are not a lot of options if you are not driving. Amazing. Well organised. Lots of options. It is a long day but we’ll worth it

The tour was amazing. Our tour guide Stephanie was very knowledgeable about the history of Bavaria and she did a great job leading the tour and helping each person have a good time.

We had a day trip from Munich to Chiemsee by train and back. Our guide, Maxine, was excellent. She was very organized, informative, friendly and experienced. Her pleasant personality added to our trip. Also our relatively small tour group of eight got along well which added to an enjoyable experience.

Although visiting the palace is definitely the highlight of this excursion, the entire experience is enjoyable. We took the regular train, an old -fashioned small train, a ferry boat and a horse carriage to get to the palace. The palace itself is gorgeous and in Rococo style, and it has an interesting historical background. The museum (which is included in the ticket price) is really worth seeing even if one doesn’t know any German. I wouldn’t have done this without this tour company and our excellent tour guide Stephanie. She was kind, thoughtful and friendly and worked hard to accommodate everyone’s needs. Our lunch was on a neighboring island and it was delicious. We saw a beautiful 800 year old church near the restaurant and enjoyed eating ice cream and buying souvenirs. All in all, it was a wonderful day trip and I am glad that I decided to go.

Conny was an excellent guide with intrinsic knowledge of the area, including all of the local folklore about the palace and Ludwig II. If you have mobility issues, round trip horse wagon transport is available and well worth the small cost. The museum portion of the palace has folding chairs available at its exit that you may borrow to use on the tour.

All 3 castles are breathtaking. Herrenchiemsee is my favorite. Space is perfect. Every aspect is perfect. Jeremy Tiegen was fun to be with and informative. All in all perfect!
