Epic Mutianyu Great Wall: Morning Adventure from Beijing

The Dongzhimen meeting point was convenient for anyone to reach. We took the subway there, just as John had suggested. It wasn't hard at all if you followed the directions underground. John's historical presentation was very engaging. He provided a comprehensive overview, from the general history of the wall to specific details about Mutianyu. He also helped us purchase the cable car tickets, which was really convenient for us. The snowfall created a magical atmosphere. The wall looked stunning covered in white. John said that not many people are lucky enough to see the Great Wall like this. The lunch buffet was a great way to refuel, and the waiting hall was a cozy retreat.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Greatwall tour with John. It was a perfect day, made even more special by the unexpected first snow. John was a true professional. His commentary on the bus was the highlight. He knew a lot about the wall's history, and his English was great, making it easy for us to follow his hiking tips. The snowfall on the wall was magical. The landscape was stunning, and the Christmas carols created a festive atmosphere that made the cold weather enjoyable. My trip to Mutianyu with Mubus was simply perfect. The autumn colours were breathtaking – the mountains looked like they were on fire with red, orange, and yellow leaves. Our guide, Kevin, made the experience exceptional. His English is fluent and clear, perfect for our international group. He wasn't just reciting facts; he shared stories about the Ming soldiers who guarded the towers, making history come alive. The Mubus visitor centre right at the foot of the cable car was a lifesaver. It provided clean restrooms, free WiFi, a place to store bags, and even sold last-minute water and snacks. This thoughtful base made everything so smooth. I can't recommend this tour enough for anyone wanting a stress-free, beautiful, and informative day at the Great Wall.

Our day with Mubus at Mutianyu Great Wall was excellent, all thanks to guide John. Though the weather was a bit cold , John’s thoughtfulness wrapped around us like a warm blanket—before we boarded the bus, he pointed out a building where we could stay warm while waiting. John’s historical tales were like threads weaving the past into the present; as we breathed in the crisp, clean air and gazed at the Great Wall snaking over the rolling hills, every story felt vivid and immersive. Mubus’s facility near the Great Wall bus station had almost everything we needed: a warm bus waiting room, complimentary tea and snacks, luggage storage, a coffee and water station, and a spacious buffet restaurant—such a thoughtful touch for travelers! We can’t imagine a better way to explore Mutianyu, and we’ll be recommending Mubus and John to everyone we know visiting Beijing!

Great trip! Our guide John was super helpful. All the information is provided on the bus and they sell you the tickets for the cable car so everything was super smooth when you arrive at Mutianyu itself. We had a great talk on the bus with all the history. There is plenty of time to walk as much as you want on the wall. 10/10 🌟

expectations! The meeting spot was really well-chosen: it’s right next to a subway station and close to a building with numerous restaurants. For anyone who hadn’t had breakfast yet, this was such a smart setup—you could easily grab a meal there before we set off. On the bus, John was so enthusiastic as he shared the history of the Great Wall’s construction. He also gave us practical tips on how to make the most of our visit to Mutianyu. I made the decision to hike left all the way to Tower 20. Great pictures. On the way up, John was kind enough to take pictures of me in the cable car. From the convenient meeting point to John’s informative guidance, every detail made this tour feel seamless. John’s passion and expertise turned a great trip into an unforgettable one, and we’d 100% recommend Mubus and John to anyone visiting Beijing!

We booked the 1-day trip to the Great Wall through Mubus. The package included: - Round-trip bus transportation from the city center to the Great Wall main station. - Round-trip shuttle bus access from the main station to the up-mountain station, which is the starting point for both the Western and Eastern gates. - And lunch buffet Our female tour guide, Jessica, greeted us warmly on the bus before departure. She was incredibly enthusiastic and provided an excellent, detailed presentation on: - The history of the Great Wall. - Options for accessing the wall (cable car, chairlift and toboggan). - The main attractions of each route (West vs. East), including a helpful comparison. Her detailed explanation helped us to decide on the West route, where we chose to ascend by cable car. We were certainly not disappointed! The view upon reaching the top of Tower 20 was absolutely breathtaking, even though we were practically crawling up the last set of stairs. It was absolutely worth the effort. Since it was a weekday in winter, there were thankfully not too many visitors. We managed to finish the track in about 2 hours, which is much faster than the typical 3.5 hours. After descending, we had the lunch buffet at the Mubus Family Building. They offered a good variety of food, including both Western-style and authentic Chinese dishes. A major plus was that the Chinese food was not as oily as is often the case, and we really appreciated that. They also provided a tea break with light snacks during the idle time while waiting for the 3 PM bus back to the city center. Overall, we were extremely happy with this tour and it absolutely was worth every penny!!!
