Starlight Wonder: Exclusive Glow-Worm Night Cave Discovery

I clearly had not read a lot about this experience when I booked it because there were so many positive surprises about it. Steve who runs it is a single man band unlike most of the glow worm cave tours. He is an incredibly experienced operator who who knows the area well and has made sure that vistors get the best possible experience. It was one of the best tours I've ever done. He takes photos and sends them through the next day (which I didnt know!) and they are spectactular.. we are going to get them printed out. Just a brilliant tour and I would highly recommend. Make sure you wear good walking shoes that have a bit of grip to them.. although its only several kms to hike if it is slippery you will need decent shoes.

Great experience, beyond our expectations! We Traveled to a spot close to Rotorua where there was a near rainforest environment. We were able to see cliff faces full of glow worms. The guide’s special lighting was fantastic. He also took fantastic pictures with us in them and emailed them to us. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Rotorua. Being on our feet, being able to get up close enough to touch the glow worm tubes, and not worrying about getting wet in a kayak, all were well worth it. The environment was free of external human lighting. The sky was clear. From a clearing in the forest we could view the Milky Way and all of the constellations as well, as well as the southern Cross, which was a treat for us northern hemispherians. We would recommend this excursion for anyone and everyone.

Steve was super passionate about his stuff. He taught us about the flora and fauna that’s native in NZ. What’s amazing is the galaxy of glow worms he found us. It was amazing! The tour ended with some hot chocolate and cookies. What a way to spend the night!

There are several glow worm tours to choose from in the area and we are so glad we chose this one. Our guide, Stephen, was fantastic from the moment he picked us up from our holiday park. He was very interesting and informative throughout the tour and gave us plenty of time for photos and questions about the flora and fauna we were lucky enough to see. Stephen holds an exclusive license to guide people through this part of the native forest and this small group tour (8 people) meant we had the area to ourselves. Just to round off a fantastic evening we were treated to hot chocolate and cookies before being returned to our individual accommodation. We would 100% recommend this tour.

Stephen was very knowledgeable of the area and entertaining. He showed us much more than glo-worms. He took some great photos and had them delivered to our email by the time we woke up in the morning. Served us hot chocolate and a cookie at the end of the tour.

Great guide took us where none of the other tours go. Well-prepared, friendly, knowledgeable. Well worth the trip and cost.

Magical night trip through the rainforest. He showed us how to get the nocturnal creatures to stay still. The glowworms shown brightly. We learned about ferns and other fauna. This rates as a top-tier event.

Unique experience and very informative. Saw lots of creatures and the forest at night was absolutely beautiful. Was a great evening with the family.
