This was an excellent tour, despite the rain, which we mostly managed to dodge. Alesa was very knowledgeable and gave a very enjoyable experience.

My fault I should have paid more attention to the itinerary but 45 minutes in I had walked about 600 metres (by the end of 3 hours Google tells me I only walked 0.7 miles) and it felt like I had signed up for a double history lesson. Most of our time was spent standing about outside buildings or statues listening to very lengthy lectures from our pleasant guide who was clearly extremely knowledgeable and proud of their country. I should point out I love historical sites it's not that I don't, it's just that this felt lazy and un-inspiring and could have been completed in half the time, the last 45 minutes was probably the most interesting but by then I'm afraid I had mentally checked out. There was a mixture of people, some who like me looked disengaged and some who looked like they were really into it so this explains the generally favourable reviews.

Alizia was a great guide, very knowledgeable and her anecdotes in addition to the history provided great context. Definitely a must to orient yourself to. Valletta.
