Vienna's Royal Lunch: Schönbrunn Palace & Grand Tour

Be sure to bring a headset as they provide a small decide but no headsets!! It’s hard to hear otherwise. It a beautiful place and would be crowded and HOT in the Summer months! The gardens are beautiful and the interior intriguing!

The palace tour was fantastic, but the meal prior to the tour was disappointing. The big surprise was that there was no option (other than vege, which we did not fancy). It was either schnitzel and strudel, or nothing. The service was slow and not particularly friendly. Looking at what other diners were having, the actual meal appeared to be a cut down version of what was on the menu. We would give the meal only 2 stars. In fact we would not recommend this tour at all. It would have been a much better experience, and possibly cheaper, to organise the meal and the visit separately.

We opted for the Grand Tour with lunch and sadly lunch was very disappointing. I’d marked the booking with dietary requirements as vegetarian. When we got to Jospeh II restaurant we were only given the one option (2 on the menu). Balsamic lentils with bread dumplings. A plate of brown tasteless mush. Neither of us could eat it. Apple strudel was palatable. Also it took a very long time to serve us. I’d suggest if you have dietary requirements ie non meat then don’t bother with tickets with lunch. The palace tour itself was wonderful and highly recommended.

Finding the restaurant was difficult . We wasted too much time finding the location . As a result the meal was rushed It was quite nice though . The tour was rather busy

The service was great and the chef came out to explain our meal. Very nice touch on the part of the restaurant!

I read the reviews about the restaurant and had low expectations. But the restaurant was actually really great and food was good. We did not have to wait much and we just followed the rules from the pdf we received (which is not the ticket). You go to the restaurant first, you eat, they give you the tickets and then you walk all the way in. The tour is a self-guided tour, but with the audio explanations made it a really good experience. Would totally recommend.

The gardens were wonderful, and the castle very impressive. The pre-ordered lunch was a bad experience, with terrible service and much waiting. We had to run, to be on time for the tour of the castle.

Very convenient, allowed for plenty of personal time as well. Explored the gardens and palace. Romantic and sweet. 10/10

Probably the best day we spent in Vienna ! The palace is absolutely wonderful and the gardens are breathtaking.

Informative audio tour in a beautiful, historical palace. Not quite the Versailles Palace that some liken it to. Don't prebook lunch!! You are not given an option when you attend the restaurant. It's schnitzel or nothing if you're a meat eater. That's boiled thick slice of pork in bread crumbs with no flavouring. Vegetarians get a 'risotto', which is lashings and lashings of garlic with rice. Pudding was cold apple strudel. Don't be mistaken, it's not apple crumble or apple pie with sweet pastry and perhaps a hint of vanilla or cinnamon to marry the ingredients together. It's savoury crust rolled around apple puree with no flavouring. Unfortunately, the plates went back full. The waitress was kind enough to take the bottled water off the bill. Service was good and manager lovely.
