Charleston's Heart: Historic Horse Carriage Sightseeing

I had a great experience today with Jason Looney as my tour guide. He made the tour fun as well as informative. I would recommend this tour to others !

Jason Looney and Jake, the horse, were great tour guides. Jason was funny and very knowledgeable. I’ve been on several carriage rides in CHS and Jason’s was by far the best!

Dec 2025: We returned to have another carriage ride because our son asked to ride with Ian again but he was very disappointed to learn he wasn't working that day. Though our driver Elliot & horse America were great also ( especially for being newer to them) he also made it fun and informative , but my son still asked for Ian . Hopefully next year he'll be there when we return. I can't recommend these rides enough. It has become a tradition every time we are in the area.

The coach driver was very knowledgeable and professional. Made Charleston come alive. Best experience, would definitely recommend.

Great experience. Looney was awesome. We got lots of background on architecture, history and folklore. He answered everyone’s questions very knowledgeably. Would definitely do again.

It’s a wonderful thing to do in Charleston after you can walk around and have a great lunch. This is our second time here and will definitely go back

this by far is the best carriage tour in Charleston, South Carolina. we know that these animals are taking care of and not abused. Jeremy was probably the best tour guide that I have ever had and I have done this tour about 5 to 8 times ! He did not rush. He was very thorough in his explanations and he was fun. I highly recommend this company for anybody that wants to take tours of Charleston .

The carriage ride was a bucket list trip for me. In a lot of cities I passed on a carriage ride because I had my heart set on Charleston. I took some time researching the different Carriage tours, but chose Palmetto Carriage because of the Big Red Barn. Obviously, and for all to see, they care about their equines. That came across and we chose them. Our longtime driver was Jim and his wealth of knowledge and love for his job did not disappoint. In short, we LOVED our early Sunday morning ride through Old Charleston.

Lovely experience. We went early in the day and had an almost private tour. Jim was a great guide and Donald, the gorgeous Belgian draft horse, did a great job leading us around. Palmetto takes such good care of their horses!
