Casco Viejo's Hidden Legends: An Unforgettable Discovery Tour

Alex was a great tour guide, lots of information and he has a very happy disposition with lots of energy. There was initial confusion as to where we would be picked up but it all worked out. He gave us the option to stay in town for lunch and he would arrange for us to be taken back at our leisure which was fantastic. There was a downpour of rain as we were making our way to our planned meeting point after lunch and who but Alex came walking down the street complete with umbrellas! Who could ask for better service!

This is a very worthwhile tour. Alex is a great tour guide. He grew up in the area and knows so much about the history of Panama. We learned a lot. It is just the right amount of time and walking. He left us at a great restaurant for lunch or there are a lot of restaurants and shops in the area.

We loved the tour. Alex was very well prepared and made the history come alive. It could be made a bit more clear that the tour is all walking. We went on ore first day in town and the heat and humidity caused use to leave the group early. Alex was understanding, pointed us to a nice hotel bar and wished us well. Really good overview of the old city.

This was a lovely walking tour made very special by the authentic love Alex our guide has for Panamá and in particular Casco Viejo Highly recommended and great value for money

Elmer was a very knowledgeable tour guide. In addition, I was looking for molas and he guided me to the spot where I could buy directly from the ladies that made them. All in all it was a good tour, even though it rained toward the end. I recommend this tour to people that really enjoy learning about history.

My wife I came for a short trip to Panama to celebrate her birthday. Since we were only staying a few days we were very selective about booking tours. Luckily we picked “Legends of Casco Viejo Tour Uncover Hidden Gems” as our introduction to Casio Viejo, on our first full day there. With any tour, the guide is the main factor that can make a tour worthwhile. Our guide Alex was one of the best I’ve had in my years of traveling. As both a longtime resident and hospitality industry professional, he has a great balance of both historical and local knowledge, and is able to keep it interesting and informative. He is also flexible and willing to adjust the tour based on the interest of the group. If your time in Panama is limited, I wholeheartedly recommend booking this tour with Alex. If you have more time, I would add that you should book on your first day, and let Alex help you to get the most out of your trip. One final note: Alex seems to know everyone there, and not just during the tour. I was chatting with an older local in front of Coca Cola Cafe later in my trip, and mentioned Alex in passing. The man knew exactly who I was talking about, (to the point of describing him) and had nothing but good things to say about him.

This tour was fantastic! Alex brought the history of Casco Viejo to life with amazing stories and hidden details I would’ve completely missed on my own. You can tell he’s passionate about the area and loves sharing its legends and culture. The perfect mix of history, fun, and local insights — highly recommend to anyone visiting Panama City!
