1. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a tribute to the third US president, Thomas Jefferson. Located in Washington DC, it was built in 1943 and is located on the south bank of the Tidal Basin. The Memorial is made of white marble and has a 19-foot bronze statue of Jefferson inside. The walls inside are lined with excerpts from Jefferson’s writings and he is also depicted on the panel above his statue holding the Declaration of Independence. The location of the Memorial ensures a spectacular view of the Tidal Basin and the cherry blossoms in spring add another element of beauty to the Memorial.

3. Admission to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial is free. However, the Memorial is a part of the National Mall and there might be parking and traffic restrictions. Visitors can reach the Memorial by taking the Metro to the Smithsonian or L’Enfant Plaza stations and then taking a walk across the National Mall.
