Unlock Ancient Ireland: Newgrange & Knowth from Dublin

First twos stops - Knowth and New Grange were fantastic. Site tour guides were excellent. The neolithic structures amazing. Last two stops on the tour were just ok. Visited the battlefield where Battle of the Boyne took place (saw short film about the battle) and Monastery ruins where we walked thru the remaining cemetery. I would have been happy to skip the last two and shorten the overall length of the outing.

This was a wonderful tour. Kevin was our guide for the day and provided plenty of information on the sites we would see. The tours of Knowth and Newgrange were guided by OPW staff, who provided a wealth of knowledge of the neolithic sites. The sites themselves are awe inspiring. The Battle of the Boyne site was interesting and the Monasterboice high crosses, tower, and ruins was great.

Our guide Matt, was very informative, funny, kept us informed as we traveled. I would highly recommend this tour.

This tour was billed as Newgrange et al but it was so much more than that! Knowth was the real star in my opinion. It was amazing! Matt, our driver and tour guide was wonderful! He filled in with so much information on the way there and then he took us to Melifont Abbey and Monasterboice. They were incredible but mostly because Matt has a gift for bringing them to life!!! I highly recommend this tour and I hope you get Matt as your driver and guide. He made it all so wonderful and real!

Our driver Matt was very knowledgeable and he gave us good information as we visited each location. He was also friendly and kind. The day was relaxed and enjoyable, we’re glad we did the trip with Hilltoptreks. If you go from March to October you get to visit Knowth along with Newgrange. Our driver (Matt) took us to Mellifont Abbey ruins on the way to Monasterboice. It was not in the itinerary but was very interesting and cool to experience at the Abbey.

Loved this day trip. Our guide/driver, Matt, was wonderful. He had lots of history and information for us, but delivered it in a personable and humorous (when appropriate) manner. He also kept us abreast on the happenings and order of the day. The actual sites were amazing, especially being inside Newgrange and the solstice simulation. Amazing!

The tour itself was great, however I booked a small group tour and 25 people is not a small group in my mind.

The day went by very quickly and we saw so much. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling solo!!

Beautiful sites with interesting history and knowledgeable guides. Matt was a great driver with lots of information to share.
