Chania Secreta: ¡Explora lo Imperdible con un Local!

Literalmente “Alma de Creta”. Qué decir...? Roussos y Aliki, dos personas encantadoras, amantes de la historia, de la cultura y de las tradiciones de su país y de la hermosa isla de Creta. Sin lugar a dudas, nuestro viaje no hubiese sido el mismo sin ellos. Empezamos con un tour por el casco antiguo de Chania (Janiá como lo pronuncian los Griegos), que superó ampliamente nuestras expectativas. Encontramos en Roussos una GRAN persona que nos recibió con los brazos abiertos y una enorme sonrisa para enseñarnos con pasión y orgullo la vasta historia de su isla que tanto adora. Un tour muy completo, con muchos detalles sobre arquitectura, historia y tradiciones. Luego, hicimos el tour en camioneta sobre las montañas recorriendo pueblos tradicionales, el cual al igual que el primero, no puedo haber sido mejor. Tuvimos la suerte que la adorable Aliki también nos acompañó. El paisaje es realmente hermoso que nos dejó sin aliento. Paramos para almorzar en un restaurante muy peculiar en el medio de la montaña que ofrecía comida típica Cretense, una maravilla! Nos llevamos gran alegría el cariño de estos dos seres excepcionales. Muchas gracias por mostrarnos Creta con tanto profesionalismo, pero sobre todo con tan buena energía! Les volvemos a decir que nuestro viaje no hubiese sido el mismo sin ustedes y esperamos volver a verlos pronto. Bru, Seba, Eli y Bea.

Conocimos a Roussos por primera vez cuando reservamos un recorrido a pie de 3 horas por el casco antiguo de Chania. ¡Esa gira fue excepcional! Cubrió todo lo que queríamos aprender sobre la historia y el casco antiguo. Hacía mucho calor y Roussos se aseguró de que tomáramos muchas bebidas y mantuviéramos la mayor sombra posible. Su pasión por Creta fue sorprendente y vimos todo desde una perspectiva "local". Excelente. Según esa gran experiencia, reservamos Roussos nuevamente para un día completo al día siguiente. Condujimos a las montañas visitando pueblos en el camino, un antiguo monasterio y terminamos disfrutando de un increíble almuerzo típico de Creta, cocinado a fuego de leña. Terminamos visitando el olivo más antiguo. Wow, fue un día mágico. No podemos hablar lo suficiente de nuestra experiencia con Roussos, es absolutamente increíble y lo recomendaríamos a él y a Alma de Creta a cualquiera que quiera experimentar la verdadera Creta. Gracias Roussos por hacer que nuestras vacaciones sean muy especiales.

We have been to Chania a couple times on our own and wandered around but this tour takes you to some hidden gem you were likely not aware existed. The guide we had made it even more amazing with the history and local lore. She was fantastic and we had the best time.

Monos was incredible. We did the food walking towards a private group. He was so friendly and knew so much about the city. He gave us additional food and shopping recommendations. All of the stores and restaurants were incredibly kind and hospitable. The gyro was the BEST! Would highly recommend this tour for a family! ‘Vamos con Manos!’

Goldy expertly guided our group of four through historical, architectural and cultural Old Town. We visited with artisans, tasted the flavors of Chania’s special foods. I highly recommend this lovely walk!

Wonderful tour of Chania Old Town. We learned so much about the island’s history and mythology, then stopped for some delicious Greek food and drinks at a cozy local spot. Our guide, Goldy, was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and patient—she took great photos and led us to hidden gems we would have never find on our own. Highly recommended!

Had a fantastic guide in Aria, she was super friendly and very knowledgeable. She tailored the walk and information to our interests and we gained a good insight into the history and culture of Chania from her as we ambled through the narrow pretty streets, some of which we wouldn’t have found or fully appreciated without her! We enjoyed some tastings along the way: olive oils, honey, desserts and finished off the tour with a selection of local foods and a drink (all included in the price). Would highly recommend this guided walk and suggest you do it early on in your stay to appreciate the rich culture and layered history of this beautiful old town.

We had the pleasure of a wonderful tour this week with Manos. He bought the history and culture of Chania old town to life, he is so knowledgable. We went to parts of the old town we’d never have visited on our own. The pace of the tour was great for us, and Manos supplied treats along the way. We finished the tour with a glass of wine, mezze and an interesting discussion on all things Crete. Highly recommended.

We had a great tour with Adonis. He is from Chania and was very informative. He took us through Old Chania which is just lovely. And we ended our tour in the main square with an assortment of small bites and a glass of wine!
