¡Udawalawe: Tu Encuentro Inolvidable con Gigantes!

Entramos al parque pensando en que veríamos muchos animales y no sé si por la época del año que era o por entrar a las 11:00 que en las 3 horas que estuvimos vimos dos grupos de elefantes de 4-5 animales cada uno, algún pájaro y nada más. Desde luego no lo aconsejaría, aunque insistiendo rn que fue nuestra experiencia que puede estar condicionada.

Simplemente ESPECTACULAR. Dudábamos entre que parque nacional y safari hacer, y sin duda acertamos de lleno con el de Udawalawe. Desde el primer momento que entramos con el jeep, empezamos a ver animales. Lo mejor es hacerlo por la mañana para avistar más elefantes. Contratamos un guía por recomendación de un amigo y fue todo un acierto. No se le escapaba por ver ningún animal y nos iba informando de todo lo que veíamos. Desde pequeños mamíferos, y aves a ciervos elefantes y cocodrilos. A la entrada del parque había muchos jeeps, así que nuestro guía nos llevó a una zona más apartada y auténtica con mucha más vegetación y con mayor posibilidad de ver cocodrilos. Y así fue, vimos todo lo que nos prometió. Además vimos elefantes muy cerca, pasando al lado de nuestro jeep, sintiéndonos en todo momento seguros con nuestro guía pues tenia muchos años de experiencia y sabía lo que hacía. Estuvimos unas 5 horas dando vueltas sin casi cruzarnos con ningún vehículo pues llegamos al río, que marca el final del parque. Súper recomendable la experiencia. Not many elephants in Sept and August they are up north in Aug and Sept. Better other times of year. Enjoyed our time with two very friendly baby elephants.

BRILLIANT. If you love elephants and you want to see LOTS of animals and birds l, this is the one for you. You’re guaranteed to see lots and lots of wildlife. I can’t recommend this enough.

The safari was perfect. We saw lots of elephants up close, lots of birds, monkeys, buffalo, and crocodiles. Shameera was very friendly and made it very enjoyable. I recommend it.

The safari was amazing and though at times it felt busy with jeeps it wasn’t uncomfortable. Our guide on safari was Max, and he was super knowledgeable and was such a calm presence. It felt like we were being really respectful of the animals. We mostly had our engine off just admiring everything from elephants to little green bee eaters. I thought there would be a cash line somewhere on the way so I could get a tip for max but had to go away and get one and come back. Be warned! Kani our transfer driver was the ultimate professional from start to finish. We were so happy with the service. He was really lovely and chatty and gave us lots of interesting facts and history on Sri Lanka and the areas he took us to. He also was a very good driver, the journeys were really smooth which allowed us to sleep on the early morning pickups. We would give Kani 5 stars and would count ourselves very lucky if we were ever to have him as our driver again.

Our guide was fantastic, very observant and we were lucky to see crocodiles, elephants :) and lots of birds. On arrival it was very busy and lots of 4x4s crowded together, mostly empty which was sad as we could have shared vehicles and reduced the traffic. However, once we got properly into the park it was much quieter and barely saw anyone else. Lovely picnic spot by the river and the baby elephant made me happy

Great experience a lot of elephant families! Lahiru helped us also to arrang the cheaper and good transportation to the Safari Park and found lot of elephants and other animals too. The safari trip took 4 hours so we had enough time to admire the animals. No rush. You can observe animals as long as you want. Thank you Lahiru Prasad for the the great memories you gave us.

We want in the afternoon and saw maybe 4 elephants, some deer and some monkeys. The park is mostly filled with birds and peacocks which isn't that interesting for us. The price was pretty expensive for not seeing much over 3hrs. A lot of aimless driving. 8000lkr to hire a Jeep and 23000lkr 2ppl entrance fee. We also did Kaudulla NP (in the north), which we enjoyed a lot more.

We chose to go with Lahiru after all his great reviews and we’re not disappointed.
