Picked up at cruise port by a person named Dexter in a taxi that had to be at least 20 years old. The car stunk, had trash/junk in it. Inside door handle missing! His breath was terrible, he honked to every female he saw and then laughed. Yelled out the window to supposedly friends and then laughed, barked at dogs and yes laughed again. An hour each way to the rainforest in this car was not comfortable. Said prayers that we would make it as engine lights were on. Odometer showed 313,550 miles on it. We enjoyed the rainforest! It was not a private tour that we signed up for, there was another couple. This was fine but the cost of this depended on the number of persons. No water as promised.

We did this excursion via RCI. RCI did not provide accurate information. Had they told us that it would be a two hour bus ride for a 5 hour excursion, we likely would have declined. If they had told us that the bus would be traveling on mostly very remote dirt roads, we would have declined. This was a major, large bus, not a van. The busses intercom system was broken and unable to turn the volume down. It was so loud, we held up our bags over the speaker above our head. The tour guide finally stopped using the mic after several attempts to have the drive turn it down. The tour it self was very slow. So painfully slow. The guide repeated himself a lot. They obviously were trying to keep groups small and separated from each other. There were virtually no animal life except for ants that we saw in their natural habitat. Everything else was caged including the butterfly habitat. The Tram ride was very short. The longer, more difficult walk to the waterfall was not as difficult as they portrayed. Still not for anyone unable to walk approximately 300 plus steep steps. The snack or lunch was at the end of the tour. It was too late. It was fruit and a cheap sandwich. Some how, some of the people on tour got a hot meal. I guess the close to $200 we paid didn't warrant a hot lunch. If you choose this tour, be sure to wear lose fitting cool clothes. You may want to bring a easily carried rain poncho. It is cool to be in the top of the rainforest. Would I do it again. NO WAY.

The rainforest park is very beautiful. But it is a very long drive from the cruise port to get here for a brief walk to the falls. It is misleading to suggest you WILL see various animals (monkeys, sloths specifically). We saw a couple of lizards.

We had a very nice experience with Alberto our guide and Peto, our driver. Good communication and very informative. Bus was clean and comfortable, all stops provided restroom availability. Our guide was very polite and wanted us to get the most from our experience.

What a great tour - saw the Veragua nRain forest - took a tram, hiked to a waterfall and then cruised on the Tortuguero canal. Our guide Alberto (Pete) and driver Omar (sp?) were wonderful A++++. The same excursion on our cruise ship was $80 more. Highly recommend this one - lots of biodiversity
- Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
