Salaam Cave Zanzibar (Turtles Santuary)

You get to Salaam caves, they give you seaweed, and you go down steps into the caves where there are turtles in the water, you get in the water with them and you hand feed them the seaweed, It’s great fun but you only have 30 mins with them which goes by to quick, try to get there early before to many people turn up, When you come out there is changing facilities and a shower so you can change your clothes which is good. Also shop and restaurant there to have a drink and take in the views,

Our excursion guide was on time and very pleasant. He pointed out different sites during our ride to the caves and explained what to expect.

The beauty of nature. A wonder from Zanzibar. Fun and exciting. It's fun seeing the tortoise swimming and dancing round you while feeding them with the sea weeds. Clean water is a beautiful sight. The chirping of the birds cohabiting the cave with the tortoises add some extra layers of beautiful sounds.

A unique and enjoyable experience. A great opportunity to get up close to some beautiful turtles. Your given seaweed to feed to them as part of entrance price, showers and toilets are available for use. Beware steps down to the cave are steep and narrow worth considering if you have mobility issues. The decking area in the cave can get crowed and busy but isn’t a huge issue. Numbers management and getting up and down the steps is slightly chaotic again not a significant issue.

Easy to book and great communication. Picked us up and dropped us off from our hotel in Kiwengwa with no issues, definitely recommend!! Turtles were great, not too crowded and entry is included in the ticket.

Magical experience! We followed the advice of a reviewer's recommendation to book early. We arrived at 08h00 and had the full hour and 30 minutes to ourselves before more people arrived. No photo can justify the serenity of this place. The premises itself is well kept, the staff really cares about nature and keeping it to the natural state. I can highly recommend the Maalum Ritual after the cave slot at the Spa. Such a spoil and highlight to our trip!

This was an unexpected delight. You have to book your time slot beforehand as the slot are limited due to the size of the cave. Basically you go to swim in a cave pool for 90min. The water is super refreshing, there are some fish and crabs, and it's all in all really beautiful. A super relaxing experience - highly recommend.
