In short, the museum has wonderful exhibits. But it wasn't until later in the day when the undisciplined school kids had left that we could relax and enjoy the museum. The unacceptable language and behaviour echoed throughout the halls. No one bothered to reign in these kids. Security said they have no power to do so, the museum operations guy said the same and obviously the teachers didn't care to take control. Great. So we pay our money and have no choice but to listen to this garbage. I can't believe nothing can be done. We've toured many museums in other countries and are not subjected to this.

Huge but excellent. I took a 45 min tour which was great. Museum is Smithsonian quality and as big as one. Favorite was the $1m solid gold 100kg coin. Only other one on display stolen from a museum in Berlin’s. Worth $13m today. You need a tour guide to appreciate many of the exhibits.

Saints, Sinners, Lovers, and Fools: A very interesting and well presented special exhibit. We learned many things about that era. The downside is that the total exhibit is quite small especially for the entrance fee. We were expecting a much larger exhibit. As such, not good value for the money spent. Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2025: We make an annual pilgrimage to see this exhibit and it was fabulous as usual. It is so fascinating seeing the different perspectives plus how people went about getting the shot. Be sure to also take the time to view the "people's choice" photos. I think some of these should have been winners as well. Overall, highly recommended.

We viewed the Shark exhibit - it was full of interesting facts. We learned that we are more of a danger to sharks than they are to us. The live musical entertainment for kids encouraged their participation in using (a) percussion instruments, (b) their voices and (c) their whole bodies in dance. The exploration area for children is well-run and maintained; staff is helpful and the toys are well-organized.

Our visit to the Saints, Sinners, Lovers and Fools (Flemish art exhibition) was spoiled by a loud Russian tour guide who had no sense of indoor voice or regard for visitors outside her tour group wanting to enjoy the exhibit with quiet conversation or contemplation of the art. While she continually shouted in Russian, ROM staff told us it was OK because they all bought tickets. ROM needs policies here so that everyone who shells out $60 can enjoy their visit to the exhibit.

As a member of the ROM, it is delightful to have easy admission to special exhibits. We attended the 2024 Photographer of the Year and it was outstanding. Beautifully displayed. Then we went to see the shark exhibit, very informative and fun!

Huge museum, allow lots of time. We had about 5 hours which was nothing like enough. We left the ground floor till last and came back another day because it's free to visit the ground floor.

I was browsing things to do in Toronto when I found that ROM had not only tours, but specialized "Haunted" tours for October! I bought my tickets (I believe CA$28 plus CA$5 for the tour) and headed to the museum. The entrance was gorgeous, but confusing. Some of the museum is free (the first floor) and you need to constantly show your entry ticket to get into most of the rest of the museum which was a little annoying. I ended up spending about 3 hours in the museum, including the tour, and it was honestly a lot more fun than I expected. Our haunted tour guide really got into the theme and took us to some parts of the museum that could seem to be glazed over normally. Honestly, if every tour was like that I would go to each themed one they've got. Well worth the visit, especially on a rainy day.
