Guangzhou VIP Tour: Ancient & Modern City Unveiled

We had an amazing day seeing the sights of Guangzhou on this tour. Our tour guide, Wenmay, was friendly, super helpful, and so informative with the history of each area we visited. We managed to go to: Canton Tower (observation area and pay extra to do the bubble tram because it’s worth it), Yongqingfang area, Jade market, Shamian Island, Bruce Lee’s father’s old home, and a few other pass by areas during this tour. We customized it to our needs since we had gone to a few other popular tourist attractions ourselves. The tour company was extremely responsive via Viator message and even accommodated our last minute pick up time change and drop off request to the airport. My suggestion is to do a bit a research to get a sense of what you may want to see, then ask the tour company for additional suggestions to build an itinerary that will suit your needs and stay within a reasonable timeframe. I highly recommend this tour company and ask for Wenmay as your guide because she is friendly, gracious and highly knowledgeable!

We had booked for two earlier, and then we had two others who were joining us. Sunny Tours kindly allowed us to switch our reservation for 2 for one for 4 just a few days before, and that is much appreciated. Our guide was very nice and informative. Our only complaint is that though the tour explicitly includes "Entrance ticket to Chen Clan Ancestral Hall" (in fact, it lists it twice) it was not actually included because it's closed on Tuesdays. Well, that's certainly understandable and I can't fault Sunny Tours for not getting us in - but we didn't find out that we couldn't get in until the day of the tour (and - a little nitpicky here maybe - we still paid the same price as if it were included). It seems to me that if it's always closed on Tuesdays this could be communicated to visitors whenever they try to book on a Tuesday.

Both Wenmay and her driver went out of their way to provide a day tour to explore the area our mother grew up in Beijaio and Fusan, just outside of Guangzhou. Wenmay's commentary was very informative , she also took lots of photos of us 2, we experienced an amazing Cantonese lunch - the best meal we had during our holiday in China! Wenmay knew we were short of time and went the extra mile to show us the Xiguan area even though it was getting late. I would highly recommend Wenmay as a guide, she was 10 stars out of 5! Also thanks to Sunny tours for answering our message late at night when our plane was diverted. Sunny kindly rescheduled our tour to the following day and that was a huge relief . Thank you to Sunny also for allowing us to plan our own itinerary and for always replying our messages and questions. We will never forget the kindness of Wenmay - she was very friendly and spoke very good English. A big thank you too for Sunny Tours!

Wenmay was just the best! Super knowledgeable about Chinese history and the history of Guangzhou in particular. Truly enjoyed learning from her. The driver was also simply delightful, the car was spacious and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.

The trip was easy to book with the option to select a flexible pick up time as well varying the proposed itinerary. Our guide Leeanne spoke very good eglish and was knowledgable, professional and curious, as was our driver.

My family went to Guangzhou for vacation over spring break in March 2025. All our previous vacations in China have been wonderful; the Guangzhou trip was no exception. One truly memorable experience was our private tour with Sunny Tours on March 19. Our tour guide, Wenmay, is fluent in both Mandarin and English. She and the driver gave us a one-day city tour of Guangzhou that we will never forget. Wenmay's knowledge of the long and rich history of China was exceptional. We had the most interesting discussions on numerous aspects of Chinese culture, the nuanced differences in language and customs among the various regions of China, the economic importance of Guangdong and the Great Bay Area in recent history and the future China, and so on and so forth. We had the best Cantonese lunch ever. Cantonese cuisine is without a doubt, the most sophisticated and highly evolved cuisine in the world, with the greatest variety in ingredients, flavors, textures, colors, cooking techniques, and needless to say, demands the most refined culinary skills. Wenmay also went out of her way to give us useful advice on what to do and see at Foshan, which we went to the next day. She communicated with us by WeChat and gave detailed instructions, which were very helpful. She did not have to do this, but did so out of the kindness of her heart. Kindness was on full display everywhere we went in China. I recommend Wenmay and Sunny Tours with the highest enthusiasm.
