Tortuga Island Paradise: VIP Day Trip & Lunch from San José

The tour was great, Nela was our guide, she was cool and funny made the trip comfortable. The breakfast place was great. On the boat we managed to see dolphins and a whale from a far (we went beginning of October). We got lucky and did some snorkling :), then we spent time at the beach which was quite busy with people but it's a lovely sandy beach, some wild pigs might come out for a bit.

The tour guide was very kind. The ride to the boat was good because you get to see the land. You get to taste the traditional food. Snorkel -so many fishes it was amazing to see the different colors and sizes. The beach was peaceful and calm water the day I went. The ride back was quick, fell asleep from all the activities. Worth the excursion. Definitely book.

The boat ride was bumpy at first but the crew sorted it out and made sure everyone was safe and everyone had a good time. It rained all day when I went and the water was a bit murky but snorkeling was successful for some and we still enjoyed the beach in the rain lol. Just come with a positive attitude

The ride from San Jose to the boat is pretty. Boat ride is nice. Beach is ok. Snorkeling ok. We seen some cool fish but because of the time of year, water cloudy. We did not have turquoise water due to the rainy season. Lunch was good. Alcohol drinks expensive but you are on the beach so it is expected. We did see 4 dolphins on our way back.

Great Day Trip, Island is very relaxing. Guides were friendly and helpful. The bus was comfortable for the long drive.

Nice tour but a few problems. First, too much time picking up passengers from multiple locations. first, of 6 pick ups, was at 4.30 for the 6.00 a.m. departure and reversed it coming back. Second, on a beach tour we were informed towels are not provided, we would stop at a store for purchase. Also, once on the island we would have to rent chairs and pay to use a restroom. I hate to get nickel and dimed on a tour. charge a little more and include everything. tour operators are great and excursion was nice.

Fabulous experience, it was our first “tourist” type adventure, so glad we did it. The bus was luxurious, all of the staff incredible. Jorge, our main tour guide switched easily from Spanish to English to address all of the guests, speaking clearly and at a rate that was easy to follow (many Ticos speak at a rapid cadence, we had no problem following his Spanish), he shared interesting information about Costa Rica. I would not bring children under the age of 12. Our group was made up of probably a 12 or 13 year old who had a blast, through individuals in their 70’s. We snorkeled and paddle boarded. The food was fabulous and the bar was great. Bring some colones, the credit card machine had trouble reading a couple cards, so some people had other people paid and then Venmoed. The drinks, jewelry vendor and you g ladies who offered hair braiding were all reasonable prices, with cute shell bracekets that were $10 US or 3 for $20 for example.

I’ve already booked again to take my mom for her birthday May 2026, if that tells you anything. This was an INCREDIBLE experience & I can’t wait to do it all over again next year.

Lovely island; poor experience. Early start, nice coach, good breakfast stop before heading onto the boat. Transfer to island on a twin engine powerboat, which was fun. Really enjoyed the beautiful island. On the boat ride back, it was clear there was a problem with the boat as we were going very slowly. Eventually another boat was called and some people were taken off, which was pretty scary and no information was given in English; the rest of us were left to chug back on one engine which took twice as long as the trip out. Picked up at 5am, back to San Jose at 7pm! Also unhappy that my phone number was shared in a WhatsApp group with all the attendees of the tour without my permission. Single females beware - your details will be shared!

Love this trip, I was able to see and do a lot of activities, definitely a much do when in Costa Rica
