Versailles & Giverny: Exclusive Royal & Monet Art Private Tour

we were picked up by our guide, Jean-Paul, conveniently right outside our flat in the 9th arrondissement. We drove to Giverny first, and he took us around the gardens, the house, and even did thoughtful things like move the car throughout the day so that we watch part of the way, but then the car would be waiting for us. He was so knowledgeable about the history, the artist that we saw, they connected things to modern day, Paris. He was very responsive and engaging with our children as well. We had a lovely crêpe lunch, and then headed to the Versailles Gardens, to include the hamlet that Marie Antoinette designed, and lastly, the palace. I'm so grateful we booked this tour!

If you make reservations with other people make sure you pay together. We made the reservations on the phone but gave 2 different credit cards and told them we wanted to be together in the same car. That day they put us in different cars. The poor tour guide didn’t know what to do. He tried to call his office with no answer. We call Viator but took a while to get anyone but then my husband was able to chat via text. He was told it was basically our fault due to not paying together even though we booked the tour by phone and was assured that there will not be a problem. It all worked out at the end due to a wonderful tour guide. It was just very stressful. We have used Viator many times and this has never happened. Hopefully it will never happen again.

Would not recommend due to the fact that we did not get quicker access compared to small groups tours. Touring was conducted with the rest of the crowd of tourists. There was no special access except for entry. Tour is set by the guides pace, which is not enjoyable in a hot and crowded environment. The guide was knowledgeable, but I don’t feel it was at all worth the money.

Our driver/ guide was extremely knowledgeable and truly made our day memorable. Worth every penny as the guided tour provides many facts that you would never know.

Worth a day! So much to see and learn! Our guide was fantastic and even suggested a great place to stop for lunch! Enjoyable even during the rain!

Our guide, Jean Paul, was outstanding! He was knowledgeable on so many topics. He was able to bring life to the characters, sharing information gleaned from archival sources as well as palace gossip. His English is excellent. We also appreciated his willingness to stay longer when we were deeply engaged and to move quickly through areas of less interest. He is very easy to be with and possesses a nice sense of humor. The sights themselves were everything you might imagine, and then some. We would highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic experience. Our guide Giles was very knowledgeable and was able to use his knowledge to see things very efficiently, as well as showing us some areas that rent as obvious to unguided folks. Well wort the money.

We had a great visit! We started with giverny, and then Versailles. This was the way to go because Monets garden/home is not very big so it gets crowded fast. It was a pretty place especially if you’re into flowers. Versailles was very impressive. You could easily spend more time there but it’s very busy. Our guide was very informative at both locations.

Gardens that are therapy for the eyes! Gilles was the best! -Engaging, and enthusiastically interested in providing the best experience possible. Perfect day, seeing Giverny and Versailles; so different and so gorgeous. Highly recommend.
