Wild Akamas: Paphos Jeep Safari to Breathtaking Avakas Gorge

This was the best activity on our trip to Cyprus! Mario was our guide and he was the best - really friendly and chatty, he had all the information we needed about the sights, and life in Cyprus. He was flexible with how long we spent at each stop and what order we did them in, to make sure everyone had a good time. The sea swimming stop in particular was amazing, and we loved seeing the mountain villages from the jeep. We even stopped to try a carab from a tree, which was delicious.

The jeep ride is over rough terrain and this off-roading allows you to see and hike in the beautiful Akama national park, see vineyards, carob and olive plantations, and even a tiny 12th century church which not many tourists get to see. This would have been impossible with a regular rented car. We also got to swim in the mediterranean for a full hour after seeing Aphrodite's baths and then had a delicious fish lunch in Latsi. The day concluded by seeing the Edro III Shipwreck and sea caves. Worth every cent, and our tour guide was very friendly and engaging.

This Jeep Safari was one of the highlights of our trip! Mario was not only professional but also an absolute joy to spend the day with. He took us to breathtaking spots we would have never found on our own, explained everything with so much knowledge and passion, and made sure we had plenty of photos to remember the day. What made the experience truly special was how much fun he made it — his humour and easygoing personality kept us smiling and laughing throughout the tour. The mix of stunning scenery, great storytelling, and a guide who really cares made this an unforgettable adventure. The Super Team exceeded all our expectations, and we can’t recommend them highly enough!

What a great day. Went to many sights but was given sufficient time at each one, especially the Blue Lagoon. Filipos was knowledgeable, funny and let us know what was going on throughout the day. Cannot wait to come back in 6 months to book another trip. Thankyou

This was a fantastic tour around several interesting locations - but made especially fun by our excellent driver, Mario. Mario was very much "on it" - we were the first to the gorge walk when it was very quiet (and cool), and then flexed the itinerary around the guests on the tour. Nothing ever felt rushed. Great fun - and we all really enjoyed the experience.

Great locations, we really enjoyed the whole experience. Didn’t get to go to the caves due to the heat, but didn’t impact our trip! Only improvement would be for the guide to tell us a little more about each of the places we went to. Learnt more from the other passengers. BUT still loved it and he was great

We had a great day with our excellent driver guide Mario, saw a baby turtle taking its first steps towards the sea, swam in beautiful blue waters and learnt a lot about Cyprus. Highly recommended.

Visited Cyprus July 2025. My wife wanted to do this excursion for her 40th birthday whilst on holiday. Booked for 2 adults and 2 kids - aged 9 and 11 years. The tour guide picked us up on time and off we went. In total there was 7 of us in the back seats facing each other. Can fit 8 people. The van is air conditioned. But if you’re at the back it’s unluckily you’ll get the full benefits of that. This is an 8 hour trip, with lots of time in the van, so if you’re tall, large build and like to stretch your legs out then this could be an issue for you. The tour guide was very welcoming and knowledgeable. I think he said his name was Pambos? Each location you visits is very timed but has to be so you can make it to all destinations. So make sure you’re not late back to the van. Please take water with you as it does get hot! A man and his son forget their water, we gave them a bottle of ours as it got really hot inside and out! Words cannot describe how stunning the locations were. If you like photography then this is the ideal trip for you! If you like to take in stunning views and learn, then give it a go! We stoped off 3 times for refreshments. Only toilet breaks at two of the locations. Lunch: Kids menus are available & come with juice! Adults - lots of choice but not if you’re none dairy or vegan. My kids had nuggets and chips. My wife and I had vegetarian moussaka, it was THE best I’ve ever eaten! You sit at the table with your tour group and the food came with a jug of wine between the adults. It was lovely tasting white wine! The cost for the 4 years is to eat here was €18 per person. The meals are huge! Loved it! You get 45 mins to swim in the Blue lagoon. It’s a steep walk down rocks , so any leg injuries etc….it will be too difficult for anyone to climb down or back up the rocky area. Top tip; take water shoes! The ground is hot and it’s stony as you walk into the sea! It was stunning though! The roads are very narrow and very high and close to the edge of the cliff. Our driver was very experienced and my kids loved being ragged around the off-roads. We had a lovely stop off for the car cream which was around €2 each. I would recommend this trip and give it 7/10

Lose 2 stars would have been five Vehicle quality poor - old 25 yr old Jeep Harsh unforgiving suspension and hard seating was uncomfortable when off road and bouncing a lot - hence 3 stars Most of the trip is on roads but first section off road. Otherwise trip is very good - Avakas gorge is stunning Lara beach is undeveloped but beautiful Afroditi bath very nice Afroditi beach very nice - take rubber shoes as stoney - good lunch served at restaurant at the top. One of our group wanted to see donkeys so our driver made a detour to achieve this to the delight of our fellow traveler Edro III shipwreck was very unusual and interesting Our guide was a good driver and kept us informed from an ecological and historical perspective and kept us entertained - well done Mario.
