Before booking Jamel, my husband and I considered several options for touring: self-directed/self-driving, pre-packaged private tour, or a customizable tour by Jamel. I am really glad we selected the third option. My reasons are: 1. Jamel drove, making the trip more relaxing for us 2. Jamel knew the best sites to see and for how long 3. Jamel adapted to us – particularly my need to stop the car and take pictures of seemingly common things like camels, sheep and voting ballots. 4. Jamel, and the people he introduced us to at various sites, shared stories of themselves, their culture, and their history. This last point is what makes Jamel the perfect tour guide. After touring with Jamel, I want to shout from the roof tops to all intrepid travelers, “Come, meet the amazing people of Tunisia. Their history is deep, their hearts are broad and the countryside expansive.”

The tour was excellent and Jamel was kind, knowledgeable and resourceful. He personalises the itinerary according to your interests and is very flexible. It was raining heavily on the first day, when we were meant to be in Tunis, so he completely reversed the order of the tour. He helped us change our accommodation bookings and made sure that we weren’t charged any late cancellation fees. He helped us to resolve any other problems we had along the way. Although the traffic in Tunisia is more than hectic, we felt safe at all times with Jamel. His commentary really enhanced the experience and we had some great discussions, between stops, about differences in Tunisian and Australian culture. The tour was even better than expected and I can’t recommend Jamel highly enough.

I made a comprehensive tour of Tunisia with Jamel, from Tunis, to the oases, to the desert to the sea. Jamel helped us organize and gave us valuable advice. We saw wonderful places and he also showed us the true reality of the country, also explaining a lot about Tunisian culture. We always felt safe and he was always available to tailor the trip to our needs. I recommend him to everyone who wants to make this trip.

Jamal added a lot to our experience in Tunisia , he took my two daughters and I all around his beautiful country. He was very polite, spoke good English , very knowledgeable with the history of all the locations we visited , knows where and when to take us to any famous sights , and where to stop to rest on the long drive , no problem with his drive at all and in addition to that he was very generous and nice with the girls , got us a lot of tunisian snacks and tried his best to keep the girls engaged and listened to all of our requests .

Jamel is a very professorial guide, articulate in English, and has the answer to most any question you may have about the many places we visit on the tour of Tunisia or about the country in general. As this was a private tour, my wife and I warmed up to Jamel since he was with us for a week. He was was extremely attentive to our needs and flexible in the itinerary so that he accommodated changes we made without much fuss. The car we used for the tour was roomy, clean and reliable. Ad as our tour included hotels, the hotels he booked were cozy, clean and adequate. Above all, he vast reservoir of knowledge about the country and his very didactic style of explaining the history of the Punic, the Romans and all the other peoples who left ruins all over Tunisia, made us feel like we were on a National Geographic expedition with a scholar. The only negative was in the first 2 days he seemed to drive a little too fast for our comfort level. Apparently because we had so much on our itinerary to cover in a short time. But after we told him that we would rather miss something on the itinerary than take the risk of speeding to accomplish it, he moderated his speed and we felt more comfortable. I would definitely recommend Jamel for any tour of Tunisia.

I was in Tunisia from March 26th to April 2nd 22nd and was able to experience the highlights of the country. Through the Have Marzougui guide, whom I was allowed to call Habib, this trip was a very special experience. He speaks excellent German, is funny, professional, attentive, friendly and gives a lot of information about the country and people. He looked after our group and me very well around the clock, always had an open ear for all concerns and always tried to make every single request possible. With him I would travel around the country again at any time. Thank you Habib, greeting Ines
