a friend in heidelberg is the name of my service. Many guests of mine told me that this describes extremely well what I have to offer. The stops mentioned under "Itinerary" are possible destinations of our tour. I am more than happy to compose an individual tour, which is based entirely on your preferences and wishes. I was not only born in the famous historical city of Heidelberg and know the area extremely well, but also lived and worked in the US and hence speak fluent English. If you wish, I can help you with the organization of your trip ahead of time.

Recently my wife and daughter along with my business partner and his wife took a trip to Germany for a trade show we were attending. With having no knowledge of what to do or where to go, I stumbled across Manfred and "a friend in heidelberg". I sure am glad I did. After reading hundreds of 5-star reviews, I reached out to him. He quickly responded and we exchanged a few emails and texts so he could obtain some basic knowledge about our group and what our interests were. Manfred stayed in touch and always followed up with additional questions to make sure we were never wondering about anything. Manfred also emailed me links for things to do the day before we were even meeting him for our tour. We booked the Four Castles Riverboat tour in Heidelberg and then we had dinner at Schnitzlebank (where he was able to get us reservations that we could get on our own". His knowledge of the area helped us make our decisions and plan out itineraries. He made suggestions for places to eat and places to see. He ended-up meeting us at our hotel where we sat one more time to go over the possibilities for the day ahead of us. As we spoke, he even asked questions about the rest of our trip and when he found out that we were going to be going to Garmisch for the rest of our trip and that we didn't have our train tickets yet, he suggested we drive to the train station to get that all booked before we started the day. He truly went out of his way to help us out to ensure we could travel hassle free even on the rest of our trip. After that we toured the Heidelberg Castle, had a fantastic lunch at an Italian restaurant which was in Old Town Heidelberg, then he took us to a winery about 40 minutes away to have a private wine tour and tasting. Manfred even sent birthday wishes to myself and my business partner since both happened while we were traveling. The day after we left Heidelberg he even checked back in with us to ensure everything was going off without a hitch. Manfred is a true professional who really enjoys what he does. By the way, his van was spotless as well. We all had a great day with him.

We spent about four hours with Manfred in his very comfortable van. Manfred was very personable, and worked well with the idiosyncrasies of our group of 4. Manfred was actually delightful. He customized our trip expertly. We had already spent some time in Heidelberg, so Manfred took us to the Speyer Cathedral and we toured the amazing crypt. Along the way, he discussed points of interest and shared many interesting sights. He then set up a wine tasting for us at Lucashof winery. We tasted lots of wine and learned a lot about the local region. Thank you so much Manfred, and we hope you and your girl friend visit us in Montana!

We completely enjoyed our day with Manfred! We were on a "bucket list" excursion and he delivered everything we hoped for. Manfred communicated clearly and quickly prior to the trip, as well as on the day we met up. He was thoughtful (brought umbrellas and met us right at our ship) and pleasant the entire day. Manfred quickly became our 'personal photographer' which alleviated some of the pressure I always feel to get plenty of photographs. He joined us for lunch and relayed many fun and interesting facts about Germany and kept us laughing with fun and interesting stories about himself. He truly became a "friend". Our day with Manfred was everything we hoped for. Thank you, Manfred!

Manfred was indeed a friend you can have in Heidelberg. We, group of 6 from Viking River cruise, toured Speyer and Heidelberg much more efficiently by hiring him for a private tour. He's born and raised in Heidelberg and know the city in and out. After touring the Heidelberg castle, we had a quick lunch at the local restaurant and walked many corners of Heidelberg with Manfred. We were also lucky to be there at the time of their Fall Fest! Highly recommend him!

Manfred was an excellent communicator before, during & after our trip. He made sure our tour was tailored to our interests, but included a couple of welcomed local surprises as well! He was prompt, friendly & respectful. His vehicle was very comfortable & clean, but most importantly his driving ability was smooth & safe. He was great company as well. I Would highly recommend his tours

Manfred was a pleasure to be around. He is so knowledgeable, and he knew all the best photo opportunities! We have some really special pictures of our trip. He knew everything about the Heidelberg area. His personal knowledge made the tour so special. The only way we were able to jump into a full day’s tour after a red eye flight from the US was because of Manfred’s excellent guidance. He is so engaging—we are so fortunate to have benefited from his knowledge.

I would describe Manfred as not just a friend but more of a Best Friend in Heidelberg. Someone you can count on for those extra things that make your visit special and managing those unexpected things that are troubling when you are not at home.

Our time in Germany was made truly unforgettable thanks to our guide, Manfred. He was by far the best guide we’ve ever had—knowledgeable, personable, and so easy to spend time with. His deep understanding of the area brought every place we visited to life, and his warm personality made the experience even more enjoyable. Manfred went above and beyond in every way. He not only helped us locate distant relatives but also arranged a meeting with them, which was such a special and meaningful moment for our family. When I unexpectedly needed medical care, he even managed to get me in and out of a clinic within an hour—something I would never have been able to navigate on my own. Manfred combines professionalism with genuine care, and he turns a good trip into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We can’t recommend him highly enough and feel truly grateful for all he did for us!
