Epic Turkey: 14-Day Ancient Wonders Small Group Tour

Fazil was an amazing and super-knowledgeable guide who made this archaeological tour one to remember. I was originally just planning to visit Tas Tepeler but decided to take in more of Turkey’s history — and I’m so glad I did. I’ve always been more into the pre-pottery era than the Roman or Ottoman side, but Fazil’s storytelling completely drew me in. He added so many interesting little details and was always quick with thoughtful answers to every question. Big thanks as well to Fevci, our hardworking driver who kept everything running smoothly. The local restaurants Fazil chose for lunch were fantastic, and every hotel was excellent — especially the one in Cappadocia. He also planned the days so we could hit all the highlights without getting stuck in crowds. This was truly a trip of a lifetime. Serendipity Tours was a great choice, and I’m already thinking about booking another adventure with Fazil in the future!

I traveled across Turkey with my brother-in-laws to primarily visit Gobekli Tepe. Instead I experience more of Turkey than I could have imagined. Our tour guide, Fazil Karabacak, provide insight at all our stops and gave us some interesting stories of the places and things we visited. Turkey is a beautiful country with a varied terrain that at time could be difficult to walk or climb. No matter, the effort it is worth the results. I have traveled to many ancient sites and Turkey was one of the best and this 14-day tour is on the top of my list. I must warn those that are interested that this tour is not for individuals requiring a wheel chair or has difficulty walking 3-5 miles a day. Many of the sites have no handrails for stepping uphill or downhill. Some of the ancient sites have uneven paths. I would not discourage anyone from this trip, it is just good information to know. The cost of food in Turkey is extremely reasonable. Lunch could be as little as five dollars a meal and dinner between ten and twenty dollars (not counting drinks) Traveling to locations could be long day for a couple of segments so bring a good book to read.

Absolutely brilliant trip. Fazli is a gem of a guide - so knowledgeable and welcoming and such a breadth of experience. We shared great times, conversations and the amazing history, culture and food of this amazing country.

We had a wonderful time on our one week tour from Istanbul visiting Globekli Tepe as well as other ancient sites. We continued on to Mt. Nemrut and to Cappadocia. Everything was very well organized from being picked up at the airport, to being driven to the various location with a very safe driver. Our guide Fazli was exceptional, being very knowledgeable giving us facts and entertaining stories about the places and the history. He also paid particular attention to our dietary needs and allergies making our dining easy. All the hotels and restaurants chosen were very good and unique. We highly recommend this tour.

It was a great experience to visit the important archeological sites we were interested in. This tour was the only one that fulfilled our expectations.

We had an amazing time - 21 days - with Serendipity Tours and Fazli (our guide) on our recent visit to Turkey. Fazli was so knowledgeable on every place that we visited and appreciated being asked questions which he answered very honestly. He had obviously gone into great detail to schedule visits to the key sites that we visited and knew the best times to start as we seemed to generally miss large queues. That is the advantage of a guide who plans things meticulously for the best experience for his clients. His commentary on all sites made the visits more memorable for us. He also knew the best restaurants to stop at - some very quaint and offering the best regional dishes. Fazli was always calm, considerate and attentive to any of our needs and efficiently sorted out any minor issue which arose in hotels and visits. It added greatly to our enjoyment that we could fully trust Fazli to help us feel relaxed and looked after and to make the most of our experiences. We can recommend him and his tour guide company extremely highly and we are looking at visiting again with him, the next time to the far east of Turkey which he has assured us has many other worthwhile sites to visit. 5 stars!!

This tour was jam packed with lots of ancient sites to see. The days were full of wonderful sights/stories and make sure to bring your best walking shoes (as there is lots of that too). I got my bucket list Hot Air Balloon trip done in Cappodocia. It was AMAZING!! Also saw the best preserved ancient ruins around. So many wonderful memories! Fazli was a fabulous tour guide. He was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. He made our tour the 5 star rating!! I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see Turkey and its history beauty!
