Fez's Ancient Heart: Volubilis, Meknes & Moulay Idriss Tour

A very enjoyable informative day. Pick up on time & at the appointed location. Great driver & Hassan the overall trip guide. We has scenic stops & an hour for lunch at a great restaurant. Excellent guides, Rashid at Volubilis & Moh at Meknes. Also comms from the operator so always available with any issues - of which there were none. Many thanks 3T travel

Good communication beforehand from Zahra at 3T Travel who provided useful tips and also helped to ensure a smooth pick-up on the day, at a location close to our riad. Though I would have held off on sending the ads for other trips/activities until after the trip (e.g. as part of a "Thank you for choosing us, please feel free to leave us a review, and here are other tours we offer" message). We opted to have local guides which we felt was the right decision, especially in Volubilis. We were given the choice of stopping in Moulay Idriss or driving through - based on our guide's advice, we decided to skip it. Our first stop in Meknes was lunch at a restaurant - though our guide did say we were free to go elsewhere, he didn't offer alternative options (we were not keen on a multi-course meal and the restaurant they took us to felt a bit too much like a tourist trap) so we were left trying to find somewhere on our own in a new city and with limited time. We did go on a Friday (31 Oct), knowing that the souks in Meknes would be closed, so while we had the medina mostly to ourselves, we knew we missed out on the vibrant market atmosphere. The guides on the bus seemed a little superfluous, with one guide for the route to Volubilis and another on the route to Meknes, but neither of them really sharing much information. Ultimately, we're grateful this tour existed as we wouldn't have been able to see Volubilis and Meknes otherwise.

We had an amazing day trip to Meknes and Volubilis with Abdelhadi and our driver Hassan! The trip was so well organized and relaxed. Abdelhadi wasn’t just a guide, he felt more like a great host who made sure we had the best experience. He shared so much interesting info along the way and made the day really fun. Hassan was super friendly and drove us comfortably the whole time. Totally recommend both of them!

Zaki picked me up on time at my hotel. While some passengers were late, he was very polite, respectful and friendly. He gave us very interesting commentaries on the places we were passing by and stopped at a few panoramic view points. He was a very careful driver and we felt very safe. The tour was long but we all enjoyed it. Thank you Zaki for a wonderful day!

Spacious bus (only 10 of us on the tour) that was air conditioned. Our guides in the car were great! Good energy and knowledgeable. Rashid, our guide in Meknes, was phenomenal. He was the highlight of our day! He had an in depth knowledge of Meknes and great humour. They supplied water for us throughout the day. Entry to Volubilis was €10/person. Entry to the music museum was €3/person (really cool museum). Guides at both Meknes and Volubilis were included in the price.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it. The bus was comfortable and very well driven by Hassan who is a lovely friendly man. Hassan, the guide, was also excellent. He was very personable and helpful. He guided us around the many sites very well. Volubilis was fascinating. It was like stepping back in time. Meknes was also interesting. We particularly enjoyed the tour with Rashid. The lunch restaurant was also very quality and value. It was a long day but very worth it. This is an excellent tour company. They delivered exactly what they said they would and on time.

This is a great option if you have many days in Fes and feel like you need to get out of the Medina for a bit. The tour was on time, it took us to the mentioned places, gave us water, the van had a/c, the staff was nice. I definitely recommend this tour.

This tour was good value- pickup and drop off were efficient and it was very well run- (thanks to Said and Aziz). We hit a lot of different spots and it didn’t feel like we spent too much time driving. I definitely recommend getting the local guides, they added a lot to the experience. Our tour was on a Friday so most of the shops in the Medina in Meknes were closed but our tour guide Rashid made sure that we still had plenty to see and learn! budget an extra 250-300 dirhams per person for things not included and bring snacks and water to save some $$$. Overall a great day trip from Fes.

We had a wonderful trip which was mixed of Roman ruins archeological sites and Meknes Medina. Our tour driver/guide Mr Zakir make this trip more comfortable with his advices and kind extra time. The highlights of the trip are roman ruins archeological site in Volubilis, Meknes Medina trip. We did shopping in Meknes Medina where price seems cheaper than Marrakech/Fes. Thanks to the tour operator and specially to Mr Zakir.

You will need to pay at volubilis! Tour guides presented are lovely, the restaurant is okay but not worth the cost, I recommend eating beforehand and then eating after so you don't have to eat too much at the restaurant they drop you off at, definitely bring water, and keep an eye on your driver- make sure to know exactly the time and location he will meet you at after dropping you off to wander around!
