Malaga's Hammam: Ancient Arabian Baths Oasis Escape

The hammam had many good aspects including the physical layout and components. However, the entire floors, steps, etc. are tile and since everyone walks around barefoot, it’s an accident waiting to happen! And it did. I slipped down a few steps, fortunately only bruising my hip, arm, and foot ((nothing broken). And although I told a couple of workers there, no one seemed to care.

I guess I am used to a much different spa experience where you don’t feel as if you’re in a cattle auction. When you first arrive, you’re sent to a common changing area. I expected to change into a robe, but was told to put on swimsuit. I did expect, at some point, I’d be in my swimsuit, just not for our massage. The changing area was decent, but beware that, if you’re modest (I am not), there are only 2 water closets (line to use the toilet), and 2 areas to change that had some privacy. I was then rejoined with my husband and shepherded to the bath area, past a tea area, on to a shower area (yes, in your swimwear), and finally to the massage area. Taking off a wet swimsuit top for the massage was more work than I wanted to do in a spa, but here we were. After the massage, I had to put it back on, still wet. Getting E cups to fit right was a chore so I did the best I could before I was sent to shower before going into the common bath area. The massage was pleasant and the baths relaxing and why it earned two stars overall. One suggestion for the spa would be to provide robes vs having a massage in wet swimwear.

Amazing experience from start to finish. We were welcomed professionally by all the staff in the hammam. Huge shoutout to Diego for thoroughly explaining the baths and the layout of the hammam. Facilities were very clean. Massages were great. Never seen such a beautiful place!

A lovely afternoon, we picked the massage with exfoliating rub. It leaves the skin feeling great. Everything is provided except swim wear.

The staff at Hammam were very nice and helpful. This was my first time going, and if I return to Malaga, I will make it my business to go back again.

Great way to relax in the heart of the city. The staff were great, especially Diego, who arranged access to the elevator for me when he noticed I was struggling with the stairs. I have a very firm massage. My sister found her massage a bit too gentle for her liking. You are allocated a massus and a staff member collected us when it was time for our treatment. Overall a lovely way to spend a few hours unwinding.

Booked this for experience the day before having made an email enquiry about being able to store our luggage…. They were quick to reply that storage was available and so I made the booking. A hidden gem in the heart of Nerja!!! Gorgeous scents greeted us as we approached & continued throughout our visit. Nando advised us where the different areas were and invited us to enjoy with the reassurance of finding us when our scrub and massage time arrived. I had Maria as my “therapist” such a beautiful soul, welcoming and professional. The scrub was a fine mitt which we were given to take away. You can choose between 4 different scents of oils for the massage. My back and legs benefitted from the short but effective massage. We spent two & a half hours in the spa. There was shampoo, conditioner and shower gel plus a selection of creams and hair products for use in the changing area. Make the most of a couple of hours to relax and breathe

This was my first full message & I was a little nervous but my masseuse, Cynthia (?sp?) was terrific in alleviating that & the experience was wonderful. All of the staff were friendly & professional. The entire space, atmosphere, tea & calming music is all that one would imagine & both of us will definitely return for more of the same.

Nice, relaxing experience in Hammam Al Andalus. Different temperature baths, steam room, hot stone room. Then a scrub and 30 min. massage.

Really relaxing experience - we didn’t even notice the time go by. The staff there were amazing - the massage and scrub were great!
