Puerto Plata: Breathtaking City Views & Cable Car Adventure!

Amazing, Diomi was an awesome tour guide,friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the island of the Dominican Republic, not to mention he wasn't too rough to look at, lol

Such an amazing tour to really see the city. Pickup and drop off at our cruise port was very simple and we never felt pressed for time. We weren't able to go on the cable car to Mount Isabel de Torres because of the weather, but the drive up the mountain was also stunning! Diomi was an excellent guide and let us really customize our trip and take our time at stops we were more interested in. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you only have a short time in Puerto Plata.

Excellent experience. Saw lots of things, the driver was very experienced, spoke good English, explained lots of things, and was patient when I stayed a little longer or shorter at some stops. Well worth the money.

First of all, the guide was very disorganized & was an hour late picking us up at the cruise port. We were supposed to be picked up at the Amber Cove cruise Port entrance. On our confirmation ticket it says Amber Cove. When the guide 1st did not show, I called the local office & the office guy called the guide who claimed he was at the entrance which he was not. After he finally showed up an hour late he said he thought he was supposed to go to alternate cruise port Taino bay. But the ticket says Amber cove not Taino bay And the office guy told him over the phone at 9 am Amber Cove- We know he was actually just late and used wrong port as excuse. Finally once picked up, we drove down Broadway (the main road on Waterfront in town) then went to the Amber museum. TAfter the museum, about 1 hour into the tour, (really 2 hours because he was an hour late picking us up) the guide informed us that we had to turn around & go all the way back to Taino Bay cruise port to pick up more passengers for the tour. That took an additional 45 minutes wasted on our tour. (We thought this tour was private). Now the guy wasted 2 hours of our day. We then to a coffee store where they tried to sell us coffee. (not what was described on tour description) Afterwards, We went to the town square- Just ok, then switched vehicles to a bus, and proceeded on to Mt Isabel de Torres. It takes about an 45 mins to get up mountain, you have 20 minutes to look around then an 45 mins back down. (View very pretty). After Mt Isabel, our tour guide repeated the 1st part of the tour and went down Broadway AGAIN to show 2nd passengers from Taino Bay that street because they had not seen that yet. That was another portion of our tour day wasted. The guide was friendly, but disorganized, late, and repetitive. Between being late, then driving back to cruise port to pick up others, & then repeating part of the tour a 2nd time, the guide wasted 1/2 of our day. Unless you want to risk wasting a major portion of your cruise day, I would not recommend this tour operator.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. My mother and I were the only ones on the tour, which made for a truly personalized experience. Our guide, Diome, was warm and welcoming. He was extremely knowledgeable about his country’s history and people. We were able to see most of the common tourist sites as well as get a small glimpse into the everyday lives of the Dominican people. Would highly recommend this tour.

It was top notch. A comfortable van with good air conditioning took us to see the most important sites in Puerto Plata. Our guide, Fabio, was amazing. He had cold water and snacks available. The trip up to the mountain is in a different vehicle. It is bumpy and it is a 30 minute ride up and 30 minutes back. It was nice to see part of the city that isn’t geared to tourists. Fabio kept us on track and gave us great advice on where and when to buy souvenirs for the best prices. I highly recommend this tour. It was the highlight of our cruise. I can’t wait to get back to Dominican Republic so I can call Fabio and see if he’s available for another tour.

we visited mount isabel ,, central park , cathedral ( from outside ) , a chocolate store , amber store , pink street , umbrella street , stopped by at a beach ( long beach ) . The tour guide Diomi was very nice . He was very patient and helped us take our time ( my mom was a bit slow in moving around ) . we had a great experience. The view from mountain Isabel is breathtaking! Also visited the fort . I didn’t go inside you need to pay $4. Mom was already tired and didn’t want to spent more time . The stores we visited , they were all overpriced. Nothing has a price sticker and they will tell you a price . Typical tourist place stores and merchants with no honesty . Better not to spend money buying stuff there . compete rip off . would recommend this tour as it covers many things and the company and guide was amazing.

Diome was our tour guide . My mom and I went on a trip . She had to take her own time to get around and Diome was so patient and caring . He showed us around and didn’t rush . The tour itself was also nice . Go to see the city , do some shopping and go to Mount Isabel . The view is breathtaking! I would definitely recommend this tour .
